Votorantim () is a city located at the southwest of São Paulo State in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Sorocaba. The population is 123,599 (2020 est.). Pilar Do Sul
Pilar do Sul is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Sorocaba. The population is 29,402 (2020 est.) in an area of 681.12 km². The elevation is 689 m. History The history of Pilar do Sul city began in 1850, when drovers, hunters and miners passed through the region to search precious metals. The place name may derive from the fact that many families from the state of Minas Gerais came to the locality to acquire stones that they used to make pestles to tenderize meat. In Portuguese the word "Pilar" means “to pestle.” The local stone was also used for tanning leather of hunted animals. Another possible source of the city’s name may stem from the religiosity of those Minas Gerais’ families, who had great devotion to Our Lady of Pilar, a Spanish Saint. Jurupará State Park
The Jurupará State Park () is a state park in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It protects an area of Atlantic Forest, and provides a bridge between other conservation units in the region.
