The Moto Arena Łódź is a 10,350-capacity motorcycle speedway stadium in the north west area of Łódź in Poland. The venue is used by the speedway team Orzeł Łódź, who compete in the Team Speedway Polish Championship. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Orzeł Łódź (''Eagle Lodz'') is a Polish motorcycle speedway team based in Łódź who currently race in the Polish Speedway First League (1. Liga). The club's full name is H. Skrzydlewska Eagle Lodz. Team Speedway Polish Championship
The Team Speedway Polish Championship ( Polish: ''Drużynowe Mistrzostwa Polski, DMP'') is an annual speedway event held each year in different Polish clubs organized by the Polish Motor Union (PZM) since 1948. In 2000, the First Division was renamed Ekstraliga, and the number of teams was reduced. The team winning the league is awarded a gold medal and declared Polish Team Champions. Teams finishing second and third are awarded silver and bronze medals respectively. 2022 Speedway European Championship
The 2022 Speedway European Championship season was the 10th season of the Speedway European Championship (SEC) era, and the 22nd UEM Individual Speedway European Championship. It was the ninth series under the promotion of One Sport Lts. of Poland. Mikkel Michelsen was the defending champion having won the title in 2021. The title was won by Denmark's Leon Madsen after he overtook former series leader Janusz Kołodziej in the final round to win by just one point. It was the second time Madsen won the title after claiming the championship in 2018. Qualification For the 2022 season, 15 permanent riders were joined at each SEC Final by one wildcard and two track reserves. Janusz Kołodziej (speedway Rider)
Janusz Kołodziej (born 27 May 1984 in Tarnów, Poland) is a Polish speedway rider who has ridden for the Polish national team and is a four times champion of Poland. Career Kołodziej rode in Britain for the Reading Racers in 2003 and from 2006 to 2007. In July 2018, during the Speedway Grand Prix Qualification he won the GP Challenge, which ensured that he claimed a permanent slot for the 2019 Speedway Grand Prix. In 2019, he won his fourth Polish title, he had previously been the Polish champion in 2005, 2010 and 2013. In 2022, he was a member of the Polish team that won the inaugural European Team Speedway Championship. In July 2023, he was part of the Polish team that won the gold medal in the 2023 Speedway World Cup final. This was his third World Cup win.
