Orzeł Łódź (''Eagle Lodz'') is a Polish motorcycle speedway team based in Łódź who currently race in the Polish Speedway First League (1. Liga). The club's full name is H. Skrzydlewska Eagle Lodz. Stadium The club hold their meetings at the Moto Arena Łódź, which opened in July 2018. History of speedway in Łódź Tramwajarz Łódź and DKS Łódź Speedway in Łódź began in 1948 with two clubs called Tramwajarz Łódź (tram drivers) and DKS Łódź. Both Tramwajarz and DKS competed in the inaugural 1948 Polish speedway season. Three years later the club moved to Bytom and changed their name to Ogniwo, before returning a year later. In 1954 Polish speedway season, 1954, the club became Sparta before but changed again to its original name of Tramwajarz before the club disbanded in 1964. The Speedway Ekstraliga (, ) is the top division of motorcycle speedway in Poland and determines the winner of the Team Speedway Polish Championship. It has been called the "richest and most popular speedway league in the world", and attracts riders from all over the world. Niels Kristian Trochmann Iversen (, born 20 June 1982 in Esbjerg, Denmark) is an international motorcycle speedway rider. He is a seven times national champion of Denmark and was part of the Danish teams that won the Speedway World Cup in 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. Early life Niels-Kristian Trochmann was born 20 June 1982 in Esbjerg, Denmark to Ann Marie and Flemming Iversen. Growing up with older brother Soren, Iversen decided he want to be a speedway rider. His local town Esbjerg had a track where Iversen began to learn his desired trade. Quickly moving up the ranks in Denmark, his first title came in 1994 at the 50cc Danish Individual Championship. Moving up to 80cc in 1997 saw him win his second title at 15 years old. In 1998 Iversen moved up to full size 500cc bikes. Marcin Nowak (born 18 August 1995) is a Polish Motorcycle speedway, speedway rider. Speedway career Nowak rode in his native Poland for GKM Grudziądz, Grudziądz from 2016 to 2017. In 2021, Nowak signed his first British team contract when he joined the Glasgow Tigers (speedway), Glasgow Tigers for the SGB Championship 2021. In 2022, he rode for Lodz in Poland and Masarna, Avesta in Sweden. He also competed in the 2022 Speedway European Championship. Luke Becker (born 11 February 1999) is a motorcycle speedway rider from the United States. Career Becker began his British career riding for Wolverhampton Wolves in 2019. Unable to ride during 2020 because of Covid-19 cancelled season, he continued to ride for Wolverhampton during the SGB Premiership 2021. In 2022, he rode for the Wolverhampton Wolves in the SGB Premiership 2022. After being named Wolves Rider of the Year he signed for the club for the 4th consecutive season, competing in the SGB Premiership 2023. However, he had a bad start to 2023 when breaking his leg in a crash in Slovakia before his Wolves season got underway. His season got much better when he was instrumental in helping Esbjerg Vikings win the Danish League. Brady Kurtz (born 27 September 1996) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Australia. Biography Born in Cowra, New South Wales. Brady's older brother Todd Kurtz is a fellow Speedway rider. Brady got his first break into British Speedway riding in the Premier League with the Somerset Rebels. He was part of the Somerset team that won the Premier League Four-Team Championship, which was held on 3 August 2014, at the East of England Arena. After two impressive years with the Rebels, Kurtz was named in the Poole Pirates team to compete in the 2016 Elite League. Stadium Stadium Lokomotīve (former name Spīdveja centrs) is located at Jelgavas iela 54, Daugavpils. Its capacity is 10,000 seats. The track is 373 metres long and has a granite surface.
