Mildura ( ) is a regional city in north-west Victoria, Australia. Located on the Victorian side of the Murray River, Mildura had a population of 34,565 at the 2021 census. When nearby Wentworth, Irymple, Nichols Point, Merbein and Red Cliffs are included, the combined urban area had a population of 58,914 in 2021, having grown marginally at an average annual rate of 1.3% year-on-year over the preceding five years. Mildura is the largest settlement in the Sunraysia region, where around 90% of Australia's table grape exports are grown. Birdwoodton, Victoria
Birwoodton is a locality situated in the Sunraysia region, in north western Victoria, Australia. The place by road, is situated about 4 kilometres south of Merbein and 14 kilometres northwest of Mildura. Named after William Birdwood, 1st Baron Birdwood, leader of the ANZAC forces at the Battle of Gallipoli, it was established as an agricultural soldier settler scheme soon after World War I. The Ngintait, or Ngindadj, are an Australian Aboriginal peoples of the northwest corner of the state of Victoria, and partly in South Australia. Nine people, all of one family, claim descent from the tribe, which was dispersed in the 19th century. Language The Ngintait language belonged to the Lower Murray languages and is often classified as a dialect of Yuyu. The Latjilatji, sometimes spelt Latji Latji or Latje Latje are an Indigenous Australian people of the state of Victoria, Australia. Name The ethnonym Latjilatji consists of a reduplication of the word for "no" (''latja''). Language Latjilatji is a Western Central Murray language classified as a member of the Kulinic language branch of the Pama Nyungan language family. It is closely related to Matimati and Wadiwadi. A vocabulary of the tongue, compiled by E. M. Curr from informants interviewed at Kulkyne, was published in 1887. It is critically endangered, with 10 speakers being recorded in 2004. Merbein is a town in the Rural City of Mildura, Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. It is on the Calder Highway between Mildura and the Murray River crossing at the Murray River crossings, Abbotsford Bridge to Curlwaa, New South Wales, Curlwaa. 2021 Australian Census
The 2021 Australian census, simply called the 2021 Census, was the eighteenth national Census of Population and Housing in Australia. The 2021 Census took place on 10 August 2021, and was conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). It had a response rate of 96.1%, up from the 95.1% at the 2016 census. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as 25,422,788, an increase of 8.6 per cent or 2,020,896 people over the previous 2016 census. Results from the 2021 census were released to the public on 28 June 2022 from the Australian Bureau of Statistics website.
