A local government area (LGA) is an administrative division of a country that a local government is responsible for. The size of an LGA varies by country but it is generally a subdivision of a federated state, state, province, division (political geography), division, or territory. The phrase is used as a generalised description in the United Kingdom to refer to a variety of political divisions such as boroughs, county, counties, unitary authority, unitary authorities, and city, cities, all of which have a council or similar body exercising a degree of self-government. Administrative divisions (also administrative units, administrative regions, subnational entities, or constituent states, as well as many similar generic terms) are geographical areas into which a particular independent sovereign state is divided. Sunshine Coast Regional Council
The Sunshine Coast Region is a Local government in Australia, local government area located in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Sunshine Coast region of South East Queensland, Australia, from which it takes its name. It was created by the amalgamation in 2008 of the City of Caloundra and the Shires of Shire of Maroochy, Maroochy and Shire of Noosa, Noosa. Town Council
A town council, city council or municipal council is a form of local government for small municipalities. Usage of the term varies under different jurisdictions. Republic of Ireland In 2002, 49 urban district councils and 26 town commissioners were redesignated as 75 town councils as a tier of local government below the county council. Five additional local authorities retained the higher status as borough councils. All 80 second-tier municipal authorities were abolished under the Local Government Reform Act 2014, with effect at the 2014 Irish local elections. Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly
The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory, known in short as the ACT Legislative Assembly, is the unicameral legislature of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). It sits in the Legislative Assembly Building, Canberra, Legislative Assembly Building on Civic Square, close to City, Australian Capital Territory, the centre of the city of Canberra.
