La Madera is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Sandoval County, New Mexico, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. The CDP is in the southeast corner of the county, bordered to the south by Paa-Ko and Edgewood, both in Bernalillo County. The community sits at the eastern base of the Sandia Mountains, which rise to the west to the summit of Sandia Crest, elevation . Bernalillo High School is a public high school in Bernalillo, New Mexico, United States. The school is a part of the Bernalillo Public Schools district and is the only high school in the district. Bernalillo Public Schools is a school district with its headquarter in Bernalillo, New Mexico. History As of 1970, Hispanic and Latino people are the majority ethnic group in the area. Prior to 1969 the school board had five members. To encourage elections of members of non-Hispanic groups, in 1969 the number of board members increased to seven. Sandia Crest
Sandia Crest, also known locally as Sandia Peak or simply as the Crest, is a mountain ridge that, at , is the highpoint of the Sandia–Manzano Mountains, and is located in the Sandia Mountains of Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States. Instead of a true summit or topographic peak, this range climbs to a long ridge line. To the east, the range slopes down from the Crest and merges into the plains below. On the west side of the Crest is a cliff; the range dramatically drops over in elevation over of horizontal distance to the Rio Grande Valley and city of Albuquerque below. It is within the Sandia Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest. Edgewood is a town in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, United States. Through annexations, its town boundaries now extend into Bernalillo and Torrance Counties. Paa-Ko is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States, built around the Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. The CDP is in northeastern Bernalillo County on the northwest side of New Mexico State Road 14. It is bordered to the southeast, across NM 14, by Edgewood, and to the north it is bordered by La Madera in Sandoval County. Via NM 14, Paa-Ko is northeast of San Antonito, northeast of Interstate 40 at Tijeras, and southwest of Golden.
