Hearst (René Fontaine) Municipal Airport
Hearst (René Fontaine) Municipal Airport (Aéroport municipale de Hearst Municipal Airport) is located northwest of Hearst, Ontario, Canada. It is named after former mayor and provincial cabinet member René Fontaine. The airport is owned by the Town of Hearst and day-to-day operations managed by Commercial Aviation since the 1980s. Operations Traffic at the airport consists of cargo and general aviation flights, including air ambulance and wildland firefighting operations. It can handle aircraft up to the Dash 8 in size. Facilities The airport has a few structures, namely a small shed, hangar and terminal building. There are four helipads located on the northwest side of the apron, adjacent to the terminal. Hearst Ranch
The Hearst Ranch is composed of two cattle ranches in central California. The best known is the original Hearst Ranch, which surrounds Hearst Castle and comprises about . George Hearst (1820–1891) bought over of Rancho Piedra Blanca, an 1840 Mexican land grant, in the late 19th century. He also bought most of Rancho San Simeon, and part of Rancho Santa Rosa (Estrada), Rancho Santa Rosa, two other adjacent land grants. The other ranch is the Jack Ranch at Cholame, California, which was acquired by the Hearst Corporation in 1966. The Jack Ranch comprises most of Rancho Cholame, an 1844 land grant, plus additional lands. The ranch's Circle C brand is the oldest registered brand in use in California. Hearst is a town in the district of Cochrane, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the Mattawishkwia River in Northern Ontario, approximately west of Kapuskasing, approximately east of Thunder Bay along Highway 11. At Hearst, Highway 583 extends northward to Lac-Sainte-Thérèse and southward to Jogues, Coppell and Mead. Hearst is well-known for its prevalent French-Canadian culture. René Fontaine
Jacques Noe René Fontaine (November 5, 1933 – March 17, 2012) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1985 to 1990, and was a cabinet minister in the government of David Peterson. Background Fontaine was educated at the University of Ottawa. He was vice-president of a sawmill in Hearst. In 1977, he declared it a "bilingual municipality". Fontaine also served as president of Maison Renaissance and Arc en Ciel in Hearst. Politics He served as a municipal councillor in the northern town of Hearst from 1963 to 1966, and was the town's mayor from 1967 to 1980. He was elected to the Ontario legislature in the 1985 provincial election, defeating Progressive Conservative René Piché in Cochrane North, a large riding in the province's northeastern corner. The De Havilland Canada DHC-8, commonly known as the Dash 8, is a series of turboprop-powered regional airliners, introduced by de Havilland Canada (DHC) in 1984. DHC was bought by Boeing in 1986, then by Bombardier in 1992, then by Longview Aviation Capital in 2019; Longview revived the De Havilland Canada brand.
