Henri Jean-Baptiste Grégoire (; 4 December 1750 – 28 May 1831), often referred to as the Abbé Grégoire, was a French Catholic priest, constitutional bishop of Blois and a revolutionary leader. He was an ardent slavery abolitionist and supporter of universal suffrage. He was a founding member of the '' Bureau des longitudes'', the ''Institut de France'', and the ''Conservatoire national des arts et métiers''. Jérémy Grégoire (born September 5, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre for the Vienna Capitals of the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). He was selected in the sixth round, 176th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Pierre Grégoire (also Pedro Gregoire, Petrus Gregorius Tholosanus) (c.1540–1597) was a French jurist and philosopher Career and key ideas Grégoire was born to a poor Catholic family in Toulouse. He studied the law and made a career for himself as an influential and at times controversial Catholic jurist. He taught law at Cahors and Toulouse from 1566 until 1582 when his patron, Charles III of Lorraine, procured a professorship in civil and canon law for him at the university of Pont à Mousson. Here Grégoire found himself colleague to the Scottish jurist William Barclay, best known for his invention of the term ‘monarchomach’ and his political treatise ''De Regno et Regali Potestate'' (1600). Jean-Albert Grégoire (7 July 1899 in Paris – 19 August 1992) was one of the great pioneers of the front-wheel-drive car. He contributed to the development of front-wheel-drive vehicles in two ways. The first way was in developing and promoting the Tracta joint (designed by his friend Pierre Fenaille), which was, until manufacturing techniques had progressed sufficiently to allow the successful manufacture of the constant velocity joints commonly in use today, the preferred choice of most manufactures of vehicles that had driven front wheels. Tracta joints were used by many of the pioneers of front-wheel drive, including DKW between 1929 and 1936 and Adler from 1932 to 1939 as well as the cars designed by J A Grégoire that will be mentioned later. She joined the Belgian Partisans Armés resistance during the Second World War, and ran an intelligence gathering section, then post war became involved in politics before being expelled from the Communist Party because of her "bourgeois origins". Early life and education Antoinette Grégoire (known as Antonina) was born in Brussels on 23 January 1914 into a well-to-do family. Grégoire was one of the first women to study business engineering (les études d'ingénieur commercial) at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) where, in addition to her studies, she was heavily involved in student life. Stéphan Grégoire (born May 14, 1969 in Neufchâteau, Vosges) is a French race car driver currently living in Zionsville, Indiana. Gregoire is a veteran of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Rolex Sports Car Series, the Indianapolis 500, and the Indy Racing League. He made 44 IRL starts between 1996 and 2001 with a best finish of 2nd at Pikes Peak International Raceway in 1997. In that season he also recorded his best ever points finish of 11th. In his 6 Indy 500 starts he has a best finish of 8th in 2000. Gregoire was in an accident late in the 2000 season at the Texas Motor Speedway during a test run which caused him to have bruises to his left knee and ankle. He was a PhD student of Marie Curie and made his career at the Curie Laboratory (now preserved as the Curie Museum) in Paris from 1927 to 1960. Career Grégoire had a successful junior career, being crowned both the national and European junior road race champion.
