Großenkneten is a municipality in the district of Oldenburg, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Geography Großenkneten is one of the largest municipalities in Germany, in terms of its area, and is situated between the rivers Hunte and Lethe, in the landscape called ''Wildeshauser Geest''. The place – consisting of the villages Huntlosen, Ahlhorn and Großenkneten – is still mostly agrarian, but is becoming more and more popular as a place of residence for commuters to Oldenburg. Trio (band)
Trio was a German band formed in the town of Großenkneten in 1979. The band is most known for the 1982 song "Da Da Da" which was a hit in 30 countries worldwide. History Trio consisted of Stephan Remmler (b. 1946), lead vocals and keyboards; Kralle Krawinkel, Gert "Kralle" Krawinkel (1947–2014), guitar and backing vocals; and Peter Behrens (musician), Peter Behrens (1947–2016), drums and backing vocals. The band was originally called Zam although they were better known in Europe as Trio from 1980 to 1986. The band recorded a number of albums, the first of which was ''Trio (Trio album), TRIO'', produced by Klaus Voormann and released in 1981. This album included their signature song, "Da Da Da", the full English title of which is "Da Da Da (I Don't Love You, You Don't Love Me, Aha Aha Aha)". The district of Oldenburg (German: ''Landkreis Oldenburg'', not to be confused with the cities of Oldenburg and Oldenburg in Holstein) is a district in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. Hermann Oberth Society
The Hermann Oberth Gesellschaft (1952-1993) was an association named after Hermann Oberth, the German astronautics pioneer and the authoritative expert on rocketry outside the United States, which develops and builds rockets and trains engineers in space technology. The association was founded on the initiative of the german rocket pioneer Karl Poggensee (1909-1980) on September 21, 1952 by eleven rocket specialists as the ''Deutsche Agentur für Raumfahrtangelegenheiten'' (DAFRA) under the motto "to promote the peaceful exploration and development of space". Hunte
Hunte () is a long river in north-western Germany (Lower Saxony), a left tributary of the Weser. The Hunte rises in the Wiehen Hills. In the North German Plain it flows through lake Dümmer. It flows generally northwards through the towns Bad Essen, Diepholz, Wildeshausen and Oldenburg. It flows into the Weser in Elsfleth. The part between Oldenburg and the Weser is navigable for coastal cargo ships. The Küsten Canal, suitable for inland navigation only, links the Hunte in Oldenburg to river Ems near Papenburg. Rocket Experiments In The Area Of Cuxhaven
Between 1933 and 1964 numerous rocket experiments were carried out in the area of Cuxhaven, Germany. 1930s and 1940s *In April 1933 Gerhard Zucker launched a mail rocket, which was to fly from Duhnen to the island of Neuwerk, but which fell to Earth after flying a few meters. *During World War II some test flights of Fi-103 (V1) rockets were flown from the military camp of Altenwalde. In 1945, Kurt Debus was ordered to install a launch pad for testing A4-rockets in the area of Cuxhaven, as a replacement for Stand VII in Peenemünde; however, the project could not be completed due to the military situation towards the end of the war. Nevertheless, in October 1945, these works supplied a basis for " Operation Backfire", a demonstration of three A4-rocket launches to military representatives of the Allied Occupation Forces. Trio was formed in 1980 by Stephan Remmler, Gert "Kralle" Krawinkel and Peter Behrens.
