The Entre Ríos Railway (ERR) (in Spanish: Ferrocarril Entre Ríos) was a British-owned railway company that built and operated a railway network in Entre Ríos Province, between the rivers Uruguay and Paraná, in Argentina. History The company began operation in 1892 by purchasing a rail network operated by state-owned Central Entre Ríos from the provincial government. Four years later the company purchased the Gualeguay to Puerto Ruiz line, built by "Ferrocarril Primer Entrerriano" in 1866, from the national government, and on 12 October 1899 a branch line from Gobernador Solá to Macía was opened. A line from Villaguay to Concordia, on the River Uruguay, was built in 1902 reaching Jubileo on 25 January, General Campos on 3 March and Concordia on 30 June where it joined the Argentine North Eastern Railway. Concordia, officially San Antonio de Padua de la Concordia, is a city and municipality that is the head town of the Concordia department, Entre Ríos Province, located in the Argentine Mesopotamia. It has 179,203 inhabitants according to the , making it the second largest in its province, and the 24th largest in Argentina. The General Urquiza Railway (FCGU) (in Spanish: Ferrocarril General Urquiza), named after the Argentine general and politician Justo José de Urquiza, is a standard gauge railway of Argentina which runs approximately northwards from Buenos Aires to Posadas, with several branches in between. San Salvador is a city in the province of Entre Ríos, Argentina. It has 13,228 inhabitants per the , and is the head town of the San Salvador Department. It is located on the center-east of the province, by National Route 18, about 48 km west of the Uruguay River and 205 km east from the provincial capital Paraná.
