Duingen is a village and a municipality in the district of Hildesheim, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 25 km southwest of Hildesheim, and 40 km south of Hanover. Since 1 November 2016, the former municipalities Coppengrave, Hoyershausen, Marienhagen and Weenzen are part of the municipality Duingen. Duingen is a former ''Samtgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") in the district of Hildesheim, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Its seat was in the village Duingen. On 1 November 2016 it was merged into the new ''Samtgemeinde'' Leinebergland. Weenzen
Weenzen is a village and a former municipality in the district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 November 2016, it is part of the municipality Duingen. As of 2025, it has approximately 380 residents. Long-standing businesses based in Weenzen include an international haulage company and a funeral company. There are both active and inactive farmsteads. Notable landmarks in Weenzen include the St. Maternus Chapel built in 1887 and an old school built from limestone. Hildesheim (district)
Hildesheim is a district (''Landkreis'') in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Hanover, Peine, Wolfenbüttel, Goslar, Northeim, Holzminden and Hameln-Pyrmont. History In 1885 the Prussian government established districts within the Province of Hanover. The present territory of the district was occupied by four districts: Hildesheim, Alfeld, Gronau and Marienburg. In 1932 the district of Gronau joined Alfeld, and the number of districts was reduced to three. Hildesheim
