Damehåndboldligaen
The Kvindeligaen () is the top professional league for Danish women's handball clubs. It is administered by the Danish Handball Federation, and the winners are recognized as Danish champions. The league was previously called Bambusa Kvindeligaen for sponsorship reasons. It has previously been known as HTH GO Ligaen, Primo Tours Ligaen, Boxer Dameligaen, TOMS Ligaen and GuldBageren Ligaen. The current title holder is Team Esbjerg (2024). The European Handball Federation (EHF) ranks the Danish league 4th in the coefficients of leagues based on performances in European competitions over the past seasons. Competition format The Kvindeligaen shares the season style with the men's league. It consists of 14 teams, each playing 26 regular season games. The eight best teams of the regular season advance to further games, where they are divided into two groups of four teams each. No. 1 and 2 from the regular season start with 2 points. Team Esbjerg
Team Esbjerg is a professional women's handball team based in Esbjerg, Denmark, that competes in the Bambusa Kvindeligaen and the 2024–25 Women's EHF Champions League. They play their home matches in Blue Water Dokken, which have capacity for 2,996 spectators. They play games in red shirts and black shorts. The coaching team consists of Swedish international Tomas Axnér and Christian Køhler. History Team Esbjerg was founded in 1991, as a cooperation between KVIK Esbjerg and Esbjerg Håndboldklub (EHK). They competed in the Danish Handball League for the first time in 1999, but they relegated the following year. They have been part of the league since 2004. Odense Håndbold
Odense Håndbold (in its first season: Odense GOG and after that Handball Club Odense) is a Danish professional women's handball team, that plays in Damehåndboldligaen, Denmark's premier women's handball league. The team's home court is Sydbank Arena in the city of Odense and they play in orange shirts and black shorts. History The precursor to Odense Håndbold, GOG Håndbold's women's team, won four Danish championships in the 1990's. Odense Håndbold was created in August 2009 as a break-away club from GOG Svendborg TGI and they overtook GOG's license for the league, which was published in a press meeting August 27, 2009 in Odense Idrætshal. They therefore started their first season in the top flight of Danish handball. The season after they changed their club name to HC Odense to distance itself from GOG. Ikast Håndbold is a Danish professional women's handball club based in Ikast. They have competed in Damehåndboldligaen, Denmark's primary handball league, since 1991. History The club was founded as ''Ikast FS Håndboldafdeling'' on 20 June 1970 as a merger of the handball departments of ''Ikast DUI'' and ''Ikast Skytte Gymnastik Forening''. København Håndbold is a Danish women's handball club from Copenhagen, Denmark. It was established in the winter of 2013. It took over the league licence from Frederiksberg IF and is playing in the Bambusa Kvindeligaen. The club is owned by Kim Mikkelsen. History The company behind the club was founded on January 24, 2013, and on February 16th they took over the licence of Frederiksberg IF, allowing them to play in the Danish Women's Handball League. Nykøbing Falster Håndboldklub (Nykøbing Falster Handball Club) is a Danish professional handball club from Nykøbing Falster. In the 2024–25 season, the club competes in the Danish Women's Handball League. They have a local rivalry with København Håndbold. History Nykøbing Falster was promoted to the top league in Denmark, Damehåndboldligaen, for the first time for 2013-14, by winning the 1st Division in 2012-13. 2024–25 Kvindeligaen
The 2024–25 Kvindeligaen was the 89th season of Kvindeligaen, Denmark's premier women's handball league. Team Esbjerg were the defending champions, while EH Aalborg was promoted from the 1. division. Odense Håndbold won the regular season in perfect fashion, winning 26 of 26 games. Later they won the title, when they beat Team Esbjerg in the final 2-1 in matches. SønderjyskE Damehåndbold is a women's handball club based in Aabenraa in South Jutland, Denmark. The club was founded in 2004 and has been part of the top tier league, Damehåndboldligaen two times. They promoted to the league again for the 2022/23 season. History SønderjyskE was created as a club for the whole region of South Jutland as it was obvious that it was impossible to create elite teams able to compete in the top leagues on the former basis of city teams. The men's football team used to be solely based in the city of Haderslev under the name Haderslev FK. Bjerringbro FH is a women's handball club from Bjerringbro, Denmark. Currently, Bjerringbro FH competes in the Danish Women's Handball League, since the 2023/24 season. The home arena of the club is Bjerringbro Idræts & Kulturcenter. EH Aalborg
EH Aalborg is a handball club from Aalborg and Nørresundby, Denmark. Currently, EH Aalborg competes in the women's Damehåndboldligaen. The home arena of the club is Nørresundby Idrætscenter. History The club was founded in 2014 under the name ''Team Abybro'' as a fusion of Visse IF and Åbybro HK. The intention was to create a top women's team around Aalborg and in general the Northern Jutland region, after Aalborg DH went bankrupt in 2013. Skanderborg Håndbold, previously known as Vrold-Skanderborg Håndboldklub is a women's handball club based in Skanderborg in Jutland, Denmark. The club has over 650 members, which makes it one of the biggest handball clubs in Denmark and the biggest in Jutland. Horsens Håndboldklub Elite, also known as Horsens Håndboldklubis a Danish handball club. For the 2018/19 season, the team promoted to the Damehåndboldligaen, after its relegation in 2010. The team plays at home in Forum Horsens. At elite level the team goes by HH Elite, while at amateur and youth levels, the team is called by their original name, Horsens Håndboldklub. Silkeborg-Voel KFUM
Silkeborg-Voel KFUM is a Danish handball club from Silkeborg and Voel. In the season 2023-2024 it plays in the Danish Women's Handball League. The team alternates between playing home matches in Jysk Arena in Silkeborg and Voelhallen in Voel History In 1957 Voel KFUM started around the central Jutland villages Sorring, Gjern and Voel.
