Cross Internacional De Venta De Baños
The Cross Internacional de Venta de Baños is a cross country running competition that takes place in Venta de Baños, Castile and León, Spain. The competition was first held in 1980 and since then it has been held every year in mid-December. Among the past winners are international athletes, such as former World Cross Country Champions Kenenisa Bekele and Gelete Burka, and local athletes Marta Domínguez and Isaac Viciosa (both former European Champions). The competition began life as a regional competition, the ''Cross de Navidad'' (Christmas cross country), in 1980. The race became national in its second edition and, following the acceptance of an English team into the competition in 1982, it obtained its current name – the Cross Internacional de Venta de Baños. The competition was televised throughout Spain for the first time in 1984, but it was not until 1995 that the competition was broadcast annually. Verónica Nyaruai
Veronica Nyaruai Wanjiru (born October 29, 1989 in Nyahururu) is a Kenyan runner who specialises in 1500 metres. She now lives in Kaptagat, where she attends PACE training camp. She took part at the 2007 world Championships, but was 12th overall and missed the 1500 m final. In 2008, she would have been eligible to defend her Junior World title, but she placed fourth at the Kenyan trial and was not selected. She is based at the PACE Sports Management training camp in Kaptagat. Santiago Llorente Fernández ( Segovia, 9 July 1958 – 27 March 2020) was a Spanish athlete. Career At the end of the 1970s, when Llorente was 16 years old, he was world runner-up in cross-country running, in Luxembourg, in 1975, which gave a boost to his sports career. In 1977, he became world runner-up in cross country running, in the junior category. That same year he was national champion in the 3,000 meters indoor junior category.
