Büyükeceli
Büyükeceli is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Gülnar, Mersin Province, Turkey. Its population is 2,529 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). Geography Büyükeceli had been founded on the southern slopes of Toros Mountains. It is near to Mediterranean coast () and recent housing of the town is almost at the seaside. It is on the Mersin Antalya highway. The highway distance to Gülnar is and to Mersin is . Economy The main economic activity is agriculture. Tomato, cucumber and aubergine are the most important crops. Fishing and animal husbandry are among the other activities. Nuclear plant Akkuyu nuclear power plant is being built near Büyükeceli. A hotel in the area, known as the Günaştı Sunset Hotel, had to be sold and shut down due to the proximity to what would be the nuclear plant. The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant () is a large nuclear power plant in Turkey under construction in Akkuyu, Büyükeceli, Mersin Province. It is expected to generate around 10% of the country's electricity when completed. The official launch ceremony took place in April 2015. In May 2010, Russia and Turkey signed an agreement that a subsidiary of Rosatom would build, own, and operate a power plant in Akkuyu comprising four 1,200 MWe VVER1200 units. Construction of the first reactor commenced in April 2018. In February 2013, Russian nuclear construction company Atomstroyexport (ASE) and Turkish construction company Özdoğu signed the site preparation contract for the proposed Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. Gülnar
Gülnar is a municipality and district of Mersin Province, Turkey. Its area is 1,416 km2, and its population is 27,889 (2022). It is south-west of the city of Mersin. Geography The town of Gülnar is inland on a plain high in the Taurus Mountains, attractive countryside known for its vineyards and its green meadows used for summer grazing. Gülnar is a small town providing high schools and other basic amenities to the surrounding villages. The road from central Anatolia to Anamur on the Mediterranean coast passes through here, one of the windiest roads imaginable, making Gülnar a remote district indeed. D.400 is an east–west state road in southern Turkey. The road starts at Datça in the southwest corner of the Anatolian peninsula and ends at the Iranian border at Esendere. Toros Mountains
The Taurus Mountains ( Turkish: ''Toros Dağları'' or ''Toroslar,'' Greek'':'' Ταύρος) are a mountain complex in southern Turkey, separating the Mediterranean coastal region from the central Anatolian Plateau.
