Hungary was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Unsubstantial Blues", composed by Magdi Rúzsa, with lyrics by Imre Mózsik, and performed by Rúzsa herself. The Hungarian participating broadcaster, (MTV), internally selected its entry, after having previously selected the performer through the "Discovery of the Year" category of the ''Fonogram Hungarian Music Awards 2007''. In December 2006, MTV announced that it would be returning to the contest after a one-year absence following its withdrawal in due to financial reasons. Six artists competed in the "Discovery of the Year" category of the awards and Magdi Rúzsa was selected as the winner based entirely on a public televote. Magyar Televízió (, ''Hungarian Television'') or MTV is a nationwide public television broadcasting organization in Hungary. Hungary has been represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 17 times since making its debut in . Hungary attempted to participate in but failed to qualify from ''Kvalifikacija za Millstreet'', a special qualifying competition set up for seven former Eastern Bloc countries. Éva Novodomszky
Éva Novodomszky (born 19 January 1974 in Szarvas, Hungary) is a Hungarian journalist and presenter. She started her career in a journalist school (Komlósi Oktatási Stúdió). She became a reporter (then presenter) of news of youth in Magyar Televízió. Later she worked for Parlamenti Napló, EuroPercek, Szabadság tér and Híradó. Origo (stylised as ORIGO, previously as [origo]) is a major Hungarian language, Hungarian-language news website founded in 1998 by telecommunications company Magyar Telekom, MATÁV. Megasztár
''Megasztár – Voice of the Year'' is a Hungarian music talent show that started in 2003 on TV2. While it is widely considered an unlicensed clone of the British television show ''Pop Idol'' (and sometimes even referred to as ''Hungarian Idol''), TV2 maintains that it is a distinct format created by SBS management member Christoph Buerge. The sixth season was the last, because TV2 bought the license of '' The Voice''. On 21 February 2024, TV2 announced that after 12 years, Megasztár would return to the screen with a new season. Wisdom (band)
Wisdom was a Hungarian power metal band from Budapest. Formed in autumn 2001, the group was known for its practice of basing each song on a well-known quotation. Many of the band's lyrics and all of the album covers center on the story of an old man, a cult figure called Wiseman. Biography The band originally consisted of bass player Mate Molnar and guitarist Gabor Kovacs. Molnar was a fan of Kovacs' existing band Legendary, and the two agreed to form a new group together. They were later joined by Istvan Nachladal (Nahi) (vocals), Balazs Hornyak (drums) and Zsolt Galambos (guitar), who had also been a member of Legendary. Charlie (Hungarian Singer)
Horváth Károly also known as Charlie, born in Ondód, Hungary, 28 October 1947) is a Hungarian rock and soul singer. Biography Originally a ballet dancer, Charlie began singing with Hungarian rock bands in the mid-1960s, and became known nationally as a member of Decca and Olympia. In the 1970s he spent two years in Africa and led a band called Afriaca, which inspired a new interest in funk and soul music. Tamás Meszerics
Tamás Meszerics (; born 4 December 1964) is a Hungarian politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Hungary. He was elected as a member of the Politics Can Be Different, part of the European Green Party in 2014. He joined The Greens–European Free Alliance group.
