Aad Wagenaar (politician)
Arie Huibrecht Dignus "Aad" Wagenaar (born 4 December 1940, Gouda) is a former Dutch politician for the Reformatory Political Federation (RPF) and the Groep Wagenaar which he founded on 20 April 1985, and Anti-Revolutionairen 1985 (AR-85). He became a teacher of religion and civics and was a spokesman for defense and foreign policy. He was understanding towards the South African apartheid regime and was strongly opposed by the Dutch peace movement. He unsuccessfully participated in the Lower House elections of 1986. In 1987 he became a member of the CDA. Wagenaar is a practicing member of the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands. Gouda, South Holland
Gouda () is a city and municipality in the west of the Netherlands, between Rotterdam and Utrecht, in the province of South Holland. Gouda has a population of 75,000 and is famous for its Gouda cheese, stroopwafels, many grachten, smoking pipes, and its 15th-century city hall. Its array of historic churches and other buildings makes it a very popular day trip destination. In the Middle Ages, a settlement was founded at the location of the current city by the Van der Goude family, who built a fortified castle alongside the banks of the Gouwe River, from which the family and the city took its name. The area, originally marshland, developed over the course of two centuries. By 1225, a canal was linked to the Gouwe and its estuary was transformed into a harbour. City rights were granted in 1272. Reformatory Political Federation
The Reformatory Political Federation ( nl, Reformatorische Politieke Federatie; RPF) was a minor Protestant Christian political party in the Netherlands. History The RPF was founded in 1975 by three groups of orthodox Christians. The first group were members of the Protestant-Christian Anti-Revolutionary Party, secondly the National Evangelical Union, a small party which had earlier left the ARP, and several independent electoral committees. The founders opposed the formation of the Christian Democratic Appeal, because the Protestant ARP and Christian Historical Union would join the Catholic People's Party. During the period of pillarisation, the Catholics and Protestants had lived in a form of cold war. Apartheid (, especially South African English: , ; , "aparthood") was a system of institutionalised racial segregation that existed in South Africa and South West Africa (now Namibia) from 1948 to the early 1990s.
