2024–25 Philadelphia Flyers Season
The 2024–25 Philadelphia Flyers season was the 58th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. On April 5, the Flyers were eliminated from playoff contention after a 3–2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season, tying the longest playoff drought in franchise history when they missed the playoffs for five consecutive seasons from 1990 to 1994. Regular season After winning only one game in a twelve game stretch, head coach John Tortorella was fired on March 27. Associate coach Brad Shaw was named interim head coach. Metropolitan Division
The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. It is also a successor of the original Atlantic Division (NHL, 1993–2013), Atlantic Division and one of the two successors to the Southeast Division (NHL), Southeast Division. Six of its teams were previously together in the Patrick Division from 1981 to 1993 (one joined in 1982). The Philadelphia Flyers are a professional ice hockey team based in Philadelphia. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) Eastern Conference's Metropolitan Division. Aleksei Kolosov
Aleksei Andreyevich Kolosov (, ; born 4 January 2002) is a Belarusian ice hockey goaltender for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is the first Belarusian net-minder to ever play in the NHL, having made his debut on 27 October 2024. Playing career Kolosov started the 2020–21 season with Dinamo-Molodechno of the Belarusian Extraliga. However as travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic led made the main goaltenders for Dinamo Minsk unavailable, Kolosov made his Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) debut. He had also agreed to terms with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League, a major junior league in Canada and the United States, who had selected him 22nd overall in the 2020 CHL Import Draft.
