2024 Ykkösliiga
The 2024 Ykkösliiga was the inaugural season of Ykkösliiga, the new second highest football league in Finland. The season began on 13 April 2024 and ended on 19 October 2024. Teams Team changes The league was contested with 10 clubs, unlike former second-tier Ykkönen which included 12 clubs. Football Association of Finland, Finnish FA *PK-35 (men), PK-35 qualified for the 2024 Ykkösliiga promotion play-offs as a 2023 Kakkonen Group A runner-up, and were promoted to Ykkösliiga as a play-offs winner. *FC Honka were declared for bankruptcy after the 2023 Veikkausliiga season. ''Ykkösliiga'' (English language, English: ''"League One"''; ) is the second highest level of the Finnish football league system (after the Veikkausliiga), managed by the Football Association of Finland. The teams in Ykkösliiga also play a pre-season league cup, the Ykkösliigacup. The nation-wide second-tier league was first established in 1973 as I divisioona. HIFK Fotboll or IFK Helsingfors is the association football section of HIFK, a sports club based in Helsinki, Finland. The men's football team currently competes in the Kolmonen whereas the women's first team is in Naisten Kakkonen. Both teams use Väinämöisen kenttä in Töölö as their home ground. FC Honka is a Finland, Finnish Association football, football club based in Espoo. It was founded in 1957 as Tapion Honka, and changed its name to FC Honka in 1975. PK-35 (originally Pallokerho-35) is a Finnish men's professional Association football, football club, based in Helsinki. It currently competes in the Ykkösliiga, the second-tier of men's football league in Finland. The club is based at the Algeco Areena in the Pihlajamäki district of Helsinki, and its colours are red, black and white. JIPPO
Jippo (stylised as JIPPO 2001–2024) is a Finnish football club, based in Joensuu. It plays in the Ykkösliiga, the second highest level of Finnish football. Jippo plays its home matches at Mehtimäki, Joensuu. History JIPPO was formed in 2001 after the merger of JiiPee and Ratanat – both playing in the Kakkonen (third level), the division Jippo played its first four seasons from 2002 to 2005. The team was promoted to Ykkönen for the season 2006 after winning the eastern group of Kakkonen and beating Klubi-04 2–1 on aggregate in the promotion playoff. Arpad Mester scored the winner goal. IF Gnistan (''Kipinä'' in Finnish; ''The Spark'' in English), commonly known as Gnistan, is a Finnish football club from the city of Helsinki, founded in 1924. Ekenäs Idrottsförening (abbreviated EIF or Ekenäs IF) is a sports club from Ekenäs, Raseborg in Finland. EIF was formed in 1905 and they are one of the oldest clubs in the south-west of Finland. The men's football first team currently plays in the Ykkösliiga, after the relegation from the Veikkausliiga in 2024.
