2023–24 PWHL Ottawa Season
The 2023–24 PWHL Ottawa season was the team's inaugural season as a member of the newly created Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). They played their home games at TD Place Arena in Ottawa. Ottawa finished the season on a three-game losing streak, and were eliminated from playoff contention in the final regular season game, a 5–2 loss to PWHL Toronto. Despite missing the playoffs, Ottawa led the league in attendance. Offseason The team announced Mike Hirshfeld as their first employee in the summer of 2023 when he was named general manager. On August 31, it was announced that TD Place Arena would be the home venue for the team. On September 5, the team signed its first three players in Emily Clark, Brianne Jenner, and Emerance Maschmeyer. On September 15, the team named Carla MacLeod its head coach. The Toronto Sceptres are a professional ice hockey team based in Toronto that competes in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). They are one of the six charter franchises of the league. The 2023–24 PWHL Boston season was the team's inaugural season as a member of the newly created Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). They played their home games at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. PWHL Boston finished third overall in the league standings and drew a match-up against PWHL Montreal in the playoff semifinals. Boston defeated Montreal in three straight games—with all three games decided in overtime—to advance to the finals, where they faced PWHL Minnesota for the Walter Cup championship. 2023–24 PWHL Montreal Season
The 2023–24 PWHL Montréal season was the team's inaugural season as a member of the newly created Professional Women's Hockey League. They played their home games at Verdun Auditorium in Montreal and Place Bell in the suburb of Laval. They also played one game at the Bell Centre on April 20. Montréal finished second overall in the league standings, clinching a playoff berth on April 24, 2024, with a 5–2 victory over PWHL New York. Montréal faced PWHL Boston in the playoff semifinal. Montréal lost the series in three straight games, with all three decisions coming in overtime, including a triple-overtime loss in the second game of the series. Hayley Scamurra (born December 14, 1994) is an American professional ice hockey player for the Montreal Victoire of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), and a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. She previously played for the Ottawa Charge and Toronto Sceptres of the PWHL. She played college ice hockey at Northeastern, where she played for four seasons. She is the daughter of former Washington Capitals player Peter Scamurra. Before playing college hockey, she was one of the only few American players to compete in the Ontario Junior women's league, playing for the Oakville Jr. Hornets and Burlington Jr. Barracudas.
