2023–24 PWHL Boston Season
The 2023–24 PWHL Boston season was the team's inaugural season as a member of the newly created Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). They played their home games at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. PWHL Boston finished third overall in the league standings and drew a match-up against PWHL Montreal in the playoff semifinals. Boston defeated Montreal in three straight games—with all three games decided in overtime—to advance to the finals, where they faced PWHL Minnesota for the Walter Cup championship. Minnesota won the series in five games, leaving Boston as the runners up. Offseason On September 1, 2023, Boston hired Danielle Marmer as its general manager. The team hired Courtney Kessel as its first head coach on September 15. In November, it was announced that the team would play its home games at the Tsongas Center in Lowell. Danielle Marmer
Danielle Marmer (born April 29, 1994) is an American ice hockey executive, former coach and former player. She currently holds the position of General Manager for the Boston Fleet of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Marmer has also served as a Player Development and Scouting Assistant for the Boston Bruins, making history as the first woman to hold a scouting position for the team. During her career as a player, she was a forward for Quinnipiac University women's hockey from 2013 to 2017. Early life Marmer was born in Newton, Massachusetts, on April 29, 1994, and spent her early childhood in Foxboro, Massachusetts. When she was three, her family moved to Dorset, Vermont. She grew up with two sisters, Whitney and Abby, both of whom also played ice hockey. Her mother Susan managed the local Riley Rink, where Danielle and her sisters spent much of their childhood, fostering a deep love for hockey and sports. 2023–24 PWHL Ottawa Season
The 2023–24 PWHL Ottawa season was the team's inaugural season as a member of the newly created Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). They played their home games at TD Place Arena in Ottawa. Ottawa finished the season on a three-game losing streak, and were eliminated from playoff contention in the final regular season game, a 5–2 loss to PWHL Toronto. Despite missing the playoffs, Ottawa led the league in attendance. Offseason The team announced Mike Hirshfeld as their first employee in the summer of 2023 when he was named general manager. On August 31, it was announced that TD Place Arena would be the home venue for the team. 2023–24 PWHL Minnesota Season
The 2023–24 PWHL Minnesota season was the team's inaugural season as a member of the newly created Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). They played their home games at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota. PWHL Minnesota clinched the league's final playoff spot on the last day of the regular season, and regular season-champion PWHL Toronto selected Minnesota as its semifinal opponent. Minnesota went on to defeat Toronto in a five-game series, winning three straight games after losing the first two. Minnesota advanced to the PWHL Finals, where they faced PWHL Boston. Minnesota prevailed in another five-game series, winning the inaugural Walter Cup championship. Minnesota's first overall draft pick from the 2023 PWHL draft, Taylor Heise, led the playoffs in scoring and was voted the most valuable player of the playoffs. Amanda Pelkey
Amanda Pelkey (born May 29, 1993) is an American professional ice hockey forward for the Boston Fleet of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She previously played in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) with the Metropolitan Riveters. She won the Isobel Cup in 2016 with the Boston Pride and was previously affiliated with the Calgary section of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA). The Montreal Victoire () are a professional ice hockey team based in the Greater Montreal area that competes in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL).
