2018 Östergötland Regional Election
Östergötland County or Region Östergötland held a regional council election on 9 September 2018, on the same day as the general and municipal elections. Results The number of seats remained at 101 with the Social Democrats winning the most at 31, a drop of six from 2014. Municipalities The Moderates received one vote more than the Social Democrats in Söderköping, even though both results were rounded to 22.2%. Östergötland County
Östergötland County () is a county or '' län'' in southeastern Sweden. It has land borders with the counties of Kalmar to the southeast, Jönköping to the southwest, Örebro to the northwest, and Södermanland to the northeast. It also has a sea border with Västra Götaland to the west (across lake Vättern), and borders the Baltic Sea to the east. Östergötland County has a population of 456,550 (September 30, 2017) and the capital and biggest city is Linköping. The Swedish Social Democratic Party, formally the Swedish Social Democratic Workers' Party ( , S or SAP), usually referred to as The Social Democrats ( ), is a social democratic political party in Sweden. The party is member of the Progressive Alliance and the Party of European Socialists. Founded in 1889, the SAP is the country's oldest and currently largest party. Ödeshög Municipality
Ödeshög Municipality () is a Municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Östergötland County, Sweden. The seat is situated in the small town of Ödeshög. The coat of arms was created in 1972 at the time the modern municipalities of Sweden were created. Åtvidaberg Municipality () is a municipality in Östergötland County in southeastern Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Åtvidaberg, with some 7,000 inhabitants. The present municipality was established in 1971 when the market town (''köping'') of ''Åtvidaberg'' (instituted in 1947) was amalgamated with its surrounding rural municipalities. Ydre Municipality
Ydre Municipality () is a municipality in Östergötland County, southeast Sweden. The municipal seat is located in the town of Österbymo. The municipality was created through the local government reform of 1952, when six former entities were united. The name was taken from the old Ydre Hundred. Its area remained unchanged by the reform of 1971. The name Ydre, which was formerly applied to most of the area around Sommen, is interpreted to mean "place of yews". Valdemarsvik Municipality
Valdemarsvik Municipality () is a Municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Östergötland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Valdemarsvik. Valdemarsvik was originally a market town (''köping'') under the city of Söderköping. When the first local government acts came into force in Sweden in 1863 Valdemarsvik was not made a municipality of its own, but part of ''Ringarum''. It was detached from Ringarum in 1914. The municipal reform of 1971 created the present municipality by reuniting Ringarum with Valdemarsvik and also adding ''Gryt'' and a part of the dissolved ''Tjust-Ed''. Vadstena Municipality () is a municipality in Östergötland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Vadstena. The old ''City of Vadstena'' was during the nationwide local government reform of the 1970s merged into Motala Municipality in 1974. This "marriage" was unsuccessful and a "divorce" was soon agreed upon and in 1980 the present municipality was created. It contains, however, 12 original units. Norrköping Municipality () is a municipality in Östergötland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Norrköping, with some 90,000 inhabitants. It is the largest municipality in Östergötland. Motala Municipality () is a municipality in Östergötland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Motala. In 1971 Motala Municipality was formed by the amalgamation of the ''City of Motala'' with some of the adjacent rural municipalities.
