Linköping Municipality
Linköping Municipality () is a Municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Östergötland County in southern Sweden. With more than 165,000 inhabitants, it is the fifth largest municipality in Sweden. The municipality is bordered in the west by Motala Municipality, Motala, and thence clockwise by Finspång Municipality, Finspång, Norrköping Municipality, Norrköping, Söderköping Municipality, Söderköping, Åtvidaberg Municipality, Åtvidaberg, Kinda Municipality, Kinda, Boxholm Municipality, Boxholm and Mjölby Municipality, Mjölby municipalities. The present municipality was formed in 1971 by the Amalgamation (politics), amalgamation of the ''City of Linköping'' with five surrounding rural municipalities. Åtvidaberg Municipality () is a municipality in Östergötland County in southeastern Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Åtvidaberg, with some 7,000 inhabitants. The present municipality was established in 1971 when the market town (''köping'') of ''Åtvidaberg'' (instituted in 1947) was amalgamated with its surrounding rural municipalities. 2022 Swedish General Election
General elections were held in Sweden on 11 September 2022 to elect the 349 members of the Riksdag who in turn elected the Prime Minister of Sweden. Under the constitution, regional and municipal elections were also held on the same day. The preliminary results presented on 15 September showed the government parties lost their majority, which were confirmed by the final results published on 17 September. After a month of negotiations following the elections that led to the Tidö Agreement among the right-wing bloc, Moderate Party (M) leader Ulf Kristersson was elected prime minister on 17 October. Carbon Neutrality
Global net-zero emissions is reached when greenhouse gas emissions and removals due to human activities are in balance. It is often called simply net zero. ''Emissions'' can refer to all greenhouse gases or only carbon dioxide (). Reaching net zero is necessary to stop further global warming. It requires deep cuts in emissions, for example by shifting from fossil fuels to sustainable energy, improving energy efficiency and halting deforestation. A small remaining fraction of emissions can then be offset using carbon dioxide removal. In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a Municipal corporation, municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Amalgamation (politics)
A merger, consolidation or amalgamation, in a political or administrative sense, is the combination of two or more political or administrative entities, such as municipalities (in other words cities, towns, etc.), counties, districts, etc., into a single entity. This term is used when the process occurs within a sovereign entity. Unbalanced growth or outward expansion of one neighbor may necessitate an administrative decision to merge (see urban sprawl).
