Åtvidaberg Municipality () is a municipality in Östergötland County in southeastern Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Åtvidaberg, with some 7,000 inhabitants. The present municipality was established in 1971 when the market town (''köping'') of ''Åtvidaberg'' (instituted in 1947) was amalgamated with its surrounding rural municipalities. A part of the present territory was transferred from Kalmar County. Kinda Municipality
Kinda Municipality () is a municipality in Östergötland County, southeast Sweden. The municipal seat is located in the town Kisa, with some 4,000 inhabitants. The present municipality was created in 1974 through the amalgamation of three municipalities called ''Norra Kinda'', ''Södra Kinda'' and ''Västra Kinda'' (North, South and West Kinda respectively), which had been formed in 1952 from the nine original entities. Valdemarsvik Municipality
Valdemarsvik Municipality () is a Municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Östergötland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Valdemarsvik. Valdemarsvik was originally a market town (''köping'') under the city of Söderköping. When the first local government acts came into force in Sweden in 1863 Valdemarsvik was not made a municipality of its own, but part of ''Ringarum''. It was detached from Ringarum in 1914. The municipal reform of 1971 created the present municipality by reuniting Ringarum with Valdemarsvik and also adding ''Gryt'' and a part of the dissolved ''Tjust-Ed''. Kalmar Regiment
The Kalmar Regiment (), designations I 20, I 21 and Fo 18, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traced its origins back to the 16th century. It was merged with another unit to form a new regiment in 1928. It was later reraised and disbanded again in 1997. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from Kalmar County, and it was later garrisoned there. History The regiment has its origins in fänika, fänikor (companies) raised in Kalmar County in the 16th century. In 1616, these units—along with fänikor from the nearby Kronoberg County—were organised by Gustav II Adolf into SmÃ¥lands storregemente, of which twelve of the total 24 companies were recruited in Kalmar County. David Drummond (soldier)
David Drummond (1593–1638), was a Scottish soldier who became a Swedish major-general, colonel and knight. He participated in the Polish–Swedish Wars 1621–1625 and 1625–1629 during which he rose from captain to colonel of Kalmar Regiment and was knighted in 1627. During the Thirty Years' War Drummond also became colonel of a German foot regiment in 1632 and major-general in 1634. He died of his wounds as a Prussian prisoner of war in 1638. Polish–Swedish War, 1621–1629 Drummond, who was trained abroad, served as a lieutenant in the Swedish Life Guards in 1617. He participated in the siege of Riga in 1621, as a captain in the Östgöta field regiment, and in the fall campaign in Courland the same year. Carriage
A carriage is a two- or four-wheeled horse-drawn vehicle for passengers. In Europe they were a common mode of transport for the wealthy during the Roman Empire, and then again from around 1600 until they were replaced by the motor car around 1900.
