2011 Ýokary Liga
2011 Ýokary Liga season was the 19th edition of the top tier professional Yokary Liga football annual competition in Turkmenistan administered by the Football Federation of Turkmenistan. It began on 2 April 2011 with the first round of games and will end in November. Teams Talyp Sporty Aşgabat were relegated. FC Gara Altyn as champions of the Turkmen second level of football were promoted. FC Balkan were renamed back to FC Nebitçi, then again back to FC Balkan FC Balkan Botevgrad () is a Bulgarian football club based in the city of Botevgrad. Ýokary Liga
The Turkmenistan Higher League, also called Türkmenistan Ýokary Liga ( Turkmen: ''Ýokary liga futbol klublarynyň arasyndaky futbol boýunça Türkmenistanyň çempionaty''), is the top division of professional football in Turkmenistan, operated by the Turkmenistan Football Federation. It was founded in 1992. Nine clubs participate in the Higher League of the Turkmenistan National Championship. The season runs between April and November. There are 9 teams in the competition. As of the 2024 season, the league had one AFC Champions League Two qualifying spot for the league winner league. Since the introduction of the Turkmenistan Higher League in 1992, Altyn Asyr (8 times), Köpetdag (6 times), Nebitçi (4 times), Nisa (4 times), Ýedigen (4 times), Arkadag (2 times), Aşgabat (2 times), Ahal (1 time) and Şagadam (1 time) have won the title. Türkmenabat
Türkmenabat (), formerly Amul, Cärjew/Chardzhou (until 1924 and from 1940-1999), and Novy Chardzhuy (from 1927-1940), is the second-largest city in Turkmenistan and the administrative centre of Lebap Province. , it had a population of approximately 231,000 people (up from 161,000 in the 1989 census). From 1924 to 1927, it was also named Leninsk in honor of Vladimir Lenin. Etymology The former name of the city, Çärjew (also Chardzhou), is a Turkmen borrowing from the Persian ''čahârjuy'', which consists of two parts: ''čahâr'', meaning "four", and ''juy'', meaning "brook". This type of naming is also common in Iran, such as the village Seh Juy, Se Juy (literally 'three brooks'). Daşoguz Stadium
Daşoguz (also Dashoguz, Dasoguz; roughly "stone spring" in Turkmen), formerly known as Tashauz (until 1992; ) and Dashkhovuz (1992–1999; ), is a large city in northern Turkmenistan and the capital of Daşoguz Province. The Uzbekistan border is about 10 km away. Geography It is located at latitude 41.833° north, longitude 59.9667° east, at an average of 88 meters above sea level. Balkanabat Stadium
The Balkanabat Sports Complex or Sport Toplumy Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Balkanabat, Turkmenistan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home for Nebitçi FT. The stadium holds 10,000 people. It is located near the Balkanabat Health Trail, in close proximity to the ridge of the Uly Balkan. History The sports complex opened on 14 October 2009. Construction works carried out by Turkish company Özaylar Inşaat on request Ministry of Sports of Turkmenistan. The project cost $20 million. The sports complex includes a stadium for 10,000 spectators, sports facilities for volleyball, basketball, boxing, wrestling, mini-football, tennis. There is a fitness center with gym, swimming pool, a small hotel with 50 rooms. Parking areas for vehicles are arranged around the stadium. Balkanabat
Balkanabat (), formerly Nebit-Dag and Neftedag, is the administrative centre of Balkan Province, the largest province in Turkmenistan. It lies at the foot of the Balkan Daglary mountain range. Balkanabat is about 450 km west of Ashgabat and 160 km east of the seaport city of Türkmenbaşy. The city layout is a grid of apartment blocks called ''kvartal'' (quarters). The main streets are Magtymguly, Pervomayskiy and Gurbansoltan eje şaýoly. Etymology The town was founded in 1933 as Neftedag, meaning "Oil Mountain" (Russian ''neft'', "oil", and Turkmen ''dag'', "mountain"), as a settlement along one of the stations of the Trans-Caspian Railway. Ashgabat (Turkmen language, Turkmen: ''Aşgabat'') is the capital city, capital and largest city of Turkmenistan. It lies between the Karakum Desert and the Kopet Dag, Kopetdag mountain range in Central Asia, approximately 50 km (30 mi) away from the Iran-Turkmenistan border. The city has a population of 1,030,063 (2022 census).
