Ýokary Liga
The Turkmenistan Higher League, also called Türkmenistan Ýokary Liga ( Turkmen: ''Ýokary liga futbol klublarynyň arasyndaky futbol boýunça Türkmenistanyň çempionaty''), is the top division of professional football in Turkmenistan, operated by the Turkmenistan Football Federation. It was founded in 1992. Nine clubs participate in the Higher League of the Turkmenistan National Championship. The season runs between April and November. There are 9 teams in the competition. As of the 2024 season, the league had one AFC Champions League Two qualifying spot for the league winner league. Since the introduction of the Turkmenistan Higher League in 1992, Altyn Asyr (8 times), Köpetdag (6 times), Nebitçi (4 times), Nisa (4 times), Ýedigen (4 times), Arkadag (2 times), Aşgabat (2 times), Ahal (1 time) and Şagadam (1 time) have won the title. The Football Federation of Turkmenistan (; TFF) is the governing body of football and futsal in Turkmenistan. It is responsible for the national team, as well as club competitions History The Federation was founded in 1992 and in 1994 was admitted to FIFA, which registers all the matches of the national teams of all member countries. FC Energetik is a Turkmen professional association football club based in the Türkmenbaşy village, Mary Province. Founded in 2015, the club played its first-ever top flight season in 2015. The club finished in third position in 2016, their highest achievement. The AFC Champions League Two (abbreviated as the ACL Two or ACL2) is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation. It is the second-tier competition of Asian club football, ranked below the AFC Champions League Elite and above the AFC Challenge League. The competition was founded in 2004 as the AFC Cup, it was played primarily among clubs from nations that did not receive direct qualifying slots to the top-tier AFC Champions League. The Köpet Dag, Kopet Dagh, or Koppeh Dagh (; ), also known as the Turkmen-Khorasan Mountain Range, is a mountain range on the border between Turkmenistan and Iran that extends about along the border southeast of the Caspian Sea, stretching northwest-southeast from near the Caspian Sea in the northwest to the Harirud River in the southeast.
