Desafío Corona
The Desafío Corona was a stock car racing series in Mexico. NASCAR founded the series in 2004 in conjunction with OCESA, a Mexican entertainment company. The business partnership between NASCAR and OCESA resulted in the creation of a new entity, now officially known as NASCAR Mexico. The former Desafío Corona series is now known as NASCAR Mexico Series. Origins The series was originally known as MasterCard Truck Series, which was a Craftsman Truck Series look-alike series, founded in 2002. After the intervention of OCESA, and with the help of SELCA, the Truck Series began to be operated by OCESA Automovilismo, while SELCA was responsible for running the show, being the sanctioning body of the series. Rogelio López
Rogelio López III (born July 29, 1980) is a Mexican racing driver from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes. López won the 2006 Desafío Coronachampionship, and went to the United States to drive the No. 03 Telmex/Lucas Oil Dodge in the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series for the 2007 season. He got his first win in the Busch East Series during his rookie season, winning on July 21, 2007, at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville. He eventually went on to finish 7th in the standings with one win, five top-5 finishes, and six top-10 finishes. Pole Position
In a motorsports race, the pole position is usually the best and "statistically the most advantageous" starting position on the track. The pole position is usually earned by the driver with the best qualifying times in the trials before the race, although penalties may award it to the second fastest driver, as the pole position is statistically awarded to the driver starting in first position. The number-one qualifying driver is also referred to as the pole-sitter. The pole position starts the race "at the front of the starting grid. Autódromo Monterrey
The Autódromo Monterrey is a racetrack in Apodaca, Nuevo León, México, in the Monterrey metropolitan area. The track currently is operated by DIPSA and host races for NASCAR México, drag racing, karting and Volks races. History The track is located front the Del Norte International Airport. The Autódromo was inaugurated in 1970 by Filiberto Jiménez. In the 1970s, 500 km of Monterrey was the main event in this circuit. Layout The track has a long straight (used for drag racing), followed by a chicane (turn 1) which takes the drivers to a hairpin turn. Turn 6 is another chicane, together with T1 was added later. Originally the last curve was a banking turn, now used in the short layout. In the long version there is a bypass that conducts to the second part of this turn.
