Autódromo Monterrey
The Autódromo Monterrey is a racetrack in Apodaca, Nuevo León, México, in the Monterrey metropolitan area. The track currently is operated by DIPSA and host races for NASCAR México, drag racing, karting and Volks races. History The track is located front the Del Norte International Airport. The Autódromo was inaugurated in 1970 by Filiberto Jiménez. In the 1970s, 500 km of Monterrey was the main event in this circuit. Layout The track has a long straight (used for drag racing), followed by a chicane (turn 1) which takes the drivers to a hairpin turn. Turn 6 is another chicane, together with T1 was added later. Originally the last curve was a banking turn, now used in the short layout. In the long version there is a bypass that conducts to the second part of this turn. Apodaca () is a city and its surrounding municipality that is part of Monterrey Metropolitan area. It lies in the northeastern part of the Monterrey Metropolitan Area. It is known for becoming recently a heavy industrialized city. As of 2019, the city houses 70% of the industrial plants of the state of Nuevo León. Apodaca is as well the fourth most exporting city in México. The municipality has an area of 224.7 km2. The population has recently increased from around 115,000 people in 1990 to almost 600,000 in 2015. Carlos Guerrero (racing Driver)
Carlos Guerrero (born November 20, 1957, Mexico City, Mexico) is a retired Mexican racing driver. He was a multiple-time Formula Three and Formula Two champion in his native Mexico. Guerrero later raced in the 1995 and 1996 CART seasons with 17 career starts, including the 1995 Indianapolis 500. He was eliminated in a crash on the first lap, becoming one of a handful of drivers to qualify for only one Indianapolis 500 and fail to complete a lap. His best career finish in CART was 11th position at the 1995 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. César Tiberio Jiménez
César Tiberio Jiménez (born July 4, 1969) is a Mexican racing driver. He is the son of Filiberto Jiménez and champion in several categories in Mexico (Mexican Formula Three Championship, Formula Three, MasterCard Truck Series). Family He is the son of driver and promoter Filiberto Jiménez, who built the Autódromo Monterrey. His brother Gilberto and nephew Gilbo Jiménez, Gilbo are also drivers. Career Tiberio debuted in Formula K at 17 years old. He won in Formula Three International on 1991 and 1992. In 1993 he ran in the 1993 Indy Lights, Indy Lights, but did not have much success. He later ran in the Indy Lights Panamericana.
