1983 Cupa României Final
The 1983 Cupa României Final was the 45th final of Romania's most prestigious cup competition. The final was played at the Stadionul 23 August in Bucharest on 6 July 1983 and was contested between Divizia A sides Universitatea Craiova and Politehnica Timişoara. The cup was won by Craiova. They were unable to play in the 1983–84 European Cup Winners' Cup as the closing date for entries was June 30. As a result, both the President and Secretary of the Romanian FA – Andrei Rădulescu and Florin Dumitrescu – were sacked. 1982–83 Cupa României
The 1982–83 Cupa României was the 45th edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Universitatea Craiova against Politehnica Timișoara. Craiova were unable to play in the 1983–84 European Cup Winners' Cup though, as the closing date for entries was a week before the final. As a result, both the President and Secretary of the Romanian FA – Andrei Rădulescu and Florin Dumitrescu were sacked. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. First round proper matches are played on the ground of the lowest ranked team, then from the second round proper the matches are played on a neutral location. In the first round proper, if a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, the team who played away will qualify, if the teams are from the same league, then the winner will be established at penalty kicks. Ilie Balaci (; 13 September 1956 – 21 October 2018) was a Romanian football midfielder and manager. He spent 12 of his 15 years as a professional with Universitatea Craiova, appearing in more than 300 official games with the club and winning seven major titles. Ion Geolgău (born 20 February 1961) is a former Romanian football midfielder and manager. Club career Ion Geolgău was born in Pielești, Dolj County. On 7 November 1976, being 15 years and 9 months old, Geolgău made his Divizia A debut under coach Constantin Teașcă, playing for Universitatea Craiova in a 3–1 victory against UTA Arad. Nicolae Ungureanu (born 11 October 1956) is a Romanian former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career He was born in Craiova and debuted in Divizia A with Universitatea Craiova in 1977. He spent ten seasons with Universitatea, winning the league titles in 1980 and 1981. Nicolae Tilihoi (9 December 1956 – 25 March 2018) was a Romanian professional footballer who played as a defender. He spent most of his career with Universitatea Craiova, where he was an indispensable member of the golden generation known as ''Craiova Maxima''. Tilihoi was often nicknamed "the Iron Defender of Craiova". Playing career Club career Silviu Lung was born on 9 September 1956 in Sânmiclăuș, Satu Mare and started to play football in 1971 at Victoria Carei in Divizia C, being helped by a rule that the Romanian Football Federation imposed, which was the use of a junior player in the games from the lower leagues. Daniel Vasile Petrescu (; born 22 December 1967) is a Romanian football manager and former player, who is in charge of K League 1 club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. As a player, Petrescu was deployed as a full-back or a winger and represented Premier League teams Sheffield Wednesday, Chelsea, Bradford City and Southampton. He notably played in the 1989 European Cup final with Steaua București and won the 1998 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup with Chelsea.
