TCDD Transport or Turkish State Railways Transport (, reporting mark TCDDT) is a government-owned railway company responsible for the operations of most passenger and freight rail in Turkey. Etimesgut
Etimesgut, formerly Ahimesut, is a municipality and metropolitan district of Ankara Province, Turkey. Its area is 273 km2, and its population is 614,891 (2022). It mainly consists of large public housing projects, from Ankara city centre. Its elevation is . History Archaeological research shows habitation since 2000 BC, including a Phrygian settlement in the 8th century BC. Then of course the district began to share the history of the city of Ankara with its Lydians, Persians, Galatians, Ancient Romans, Byzantines and finally Turks. Etimesgut is on the ancient Silk Road to the orient, and still today the road and railway from Ankara to Istanbul pass through the district. The State Railways of the Republic of Turkey (), abbreviated as TCDD, is a government-owned national railway company responsible for the ownership and maintenance of railways in Turkey, as well as the planning and construction of new lines. Etimesgut YHT Maintenance Facility
The Etimesgut High-speed rail maintenance facility (), officially known as the Main High-speed rail Maintenance Facility (), is a passenger rail yard used exclusively for YHT high-speed train-sets in Ankara, Turkey. Located in the Etiler neighborhood in northwestern Etimesgut, it is the second largest rail yard in Turkey spanning over . The yard contains a large high-speed rail maintenance shop together with a high-speed rail focused training facility for employees. A wide turning loop, facing east, spans the perimeter of the facility. Ankara West YHT station is under construction, just south of the facility, and will become a main railway station in west Ankara; it is scheduled to open by December 2017. Entrance to the facility is via the D.140, from the north. Construction of the facility began in late 2013, on land bought from the ''Etimesgut Sugar Factory'', and completed in February 2016. KayaÅŸ Railway Station
Kayaş railway station is a railway station on the Başkentray commuter rail line in Ankara, Turkey. Located in the Kayaş neighborhood of the Mamak district, it is the eastern terminus of the line. The station closed down in July 2016 and the platforms were demolished, expanded and rebuilt; Kayaş station reopened on 12 April 2018 and serves commuter, regional and intercity trains. As of 2023, it now also serves as a station on the Ankara–Sivas high-speed railway operated by YHT. A double-track railway usually involves running one track in each direction, compared to a single-track railway where trains in both directions share the same track.
