Kettering is a market and industrial town in North Northamptonshire, England. It is located north of London and north-east of Northampton, west of the River Ise, a tributary of the River Nene. St Peter And St Paul's Church, Kettering
St Peter and St Paul's Church, Kettering is a Church of England parish church in Kettering, Northamptonshire. It is a Grade I listed building. History Little is known of the origins of the church, its first known priest becoming rector in 1219–20. The chancel is in the Early Decorated style of about 1300, the main fabric of the building being mostly Perpendicular, having been rebuilt in the mid 15th century. The crocketed spire reaches a height of 179 feet (55 metres). Whether the current building replaced an earlier church on the site is unknown. Two medieval wall paintings, one of two angels with feathered wings, and one of a now faded saint, can still be seen inside the church. Parish status The church is in a joint parish with St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Kettering. Midland Main Line
The Midland Main Line is a major railway line in England from London to Nottingham and Sheffield in the Midlands. It comprises the lines from London's St Pancras station via Leicester, Derby/Nottingham and Chesterfield in the East Midlands. Express passenger services on the line are operated by East Midlands Railway. The line is electrified between St Pancras and Corby and the section south of Bedford forms the northern half of the Thameslink network, with a semi-fast service to Brighton and other suburban services. A northern part of the route, between Derby and Chesterfield, also forms part of the Cross Country Route operated by CrossCountry. North Northamptonshire is one of two local authority areas in Northamptonshire, England. It is a Unitary authorities of England, unitary authority area forming about one half of the Ceremonial counties of England, ceremonial county of Northamptonshire. It was created in 2021. Alfred East
Sir Alfred Edward East (15 December 1844 – 28 September 1913) was an English painter. Life East was born in Kettering in Northamptonshire and studied at the Glasgow School of Art. His romantic landscapes show the influence of the Barbizon school. His ''The Art of Landscape Painting in Oil Colour'' was published in 1906. In April 1888 he had shared an exhibition at the galleries of the Fine Art Society with T.C. Gotch and W. Ayerst Ingram, and was commissioned the following year by Marcus Huish, managing director of the Society, to spend six months in Japan to paint the landscape and the people of the country. When the exhibition of 104 paintings from this tour was held at the Fine Art Society in 1890 it was a spectacular success. Weekley is a small village and civil parish in the English county of Northamptonshire, on the outskirts of Kettering. The village's name probably means, 'wood/clearing by the Romano-British vicus', a trading settlement. There are two known Romano-British destinations in the surrounding area. On the other hand, ' wych-elm wood/clearing' might be an alternative derivation. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 242 people, increasing to 297 at the 2011 Census. River Ise
The River Ise is a river in Northamptonshire, England and a tributary of the River Nene. The river rises in a field that was part of the site of the Battle of Naseby in north-western Northamptonshire. The parish of Naseby lies across a watershed from which streams also flow to the rivers Avon and Nene. It flows east past Desborough and the Eleanor cross at Geddington, then through the grounds of Rushton Hall, before turning south and passing through the parkland of Boughton House where it was extensively canalised and landscaped in the late 17th century. It then flows between Kettering and Barton Seagrave where its valley was excavated during the creation of Wicksteed Park to provide a large lake for public amenity use. It finishes its journey by flowing past Burton Latimer and Finedon, joining the Nene just south of Wellingborough.
