. On September 27, the Twins clinched the second wild-card berth to become the first team in Major League Baseball history to reach the postseason after losing 100 games the previous season. They were able to take advantage of a weak American League, as they made the playoffs despite their pedestrian 85-77 record, the worst record to make the playoffs since the 2008 Los Angeles Dodgers.
