Daniel Gossett
Daniel James Gossett (born November 13, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher. He has played for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). Career Gossett attended James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, South Carolina. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 16th round of the 2011 MLB draft. He did not sign with the Red Sox, deciding to play college baseball at Clemson University instead. Oakland Athletics After his junior year in college, Gossett was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the second round of the 2014 MLB draft. Gossett made his professional debut with the Class A-Short Season Vermont Lake Monsters in 2014. He played in 12 games with a 2.25 earned run average (ERA) and 25 strikeouts. He pitched with the Class A Beloit Snappers in 2015, ending with a 5–13 win–loss record, a 4.75 ERA, and 112 strikeouts. Pitcher

Earned Run Average
In baseball statistics, earned run average (ERA) is the average of earned runs allowed by a pitcher per nine innings pitched (i.e. the traditional length of a game). It is determined by dividing the number of earned runs allowed by the number of innings pitched and multiplying by nine. Thus, a lower ERA is better. Runs resulting from passed balls or defensive errors (including pitchers' defensive errors) are recorded as unearned runs and omitted from ERA calculations. Origins Henry Chadwick is credited with devising the statistic, which caught on as a measure of pitching effectiveness after relief pitching came into vogue in the 1900s. No-hitter
In baseball, a no-hitter is a game in which a team was not able to record a hit. Major League Baseball (MLB) officially defines a no-hitter as a completed game in which a team that batted in at least nine innings recorded no hits. A pitcher who prevents the opposing team from achieving a hit is said to have "thrown a no-hitter". In most cases, no-hitters are recorded by a single pitcher who throws a complete game; one thrown by two or more pitchers is a combined no-hitter. A no-hitter is a rare accomplishment for a pitcher or pitching staff—only 318 have been thrown in MLB history since 1876, an average of about two per year.
