Øyafestivalen
Øyafestivalen is an annual Norwegian music festival held in the Tøyen Park, Oslo. It has grown quickly since its modest start in 1999 and has become one of Norway's biggest and most important music festival The festival has previously featured musicians like Sonic Youth, Iggy and The Stooges, Arctic Monkeys, Babyshambles, Morrissey and Beck. The festival lasts for four days in the main park area, and is preceded by a club night where the festival holds concerts in more or less all of Oslo's central clubs. History For the first two years, the festival was held on Kalvøya, near Sandvika just outside Oslo. Contrary to popular belief, it is not the same festival as the old Kalvøyafestivalen, which was also held at Kalvøya. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Tøyen Park
Tøyen Park ( no, Tøyenparken) is a park in Oslo, Norway. It is located to the north-east of the Munch Museum and neighbours the University of Oslo Botanical Gardens. Tøyen Park is an expanse of grass-covered hills, dotted with clusters of large trees. Like most parks in Oslo, Tøyen Park is a popular recreation area. During summer, groups of people barbecue and fly frisbees, while during winter, tobogganing down the hills is popular. Middelalderparken
The Medieval Park ( no, Middelalderparken) is located in the borough of Gamle Oslo in Oslo, Norway. The park was opened in the year 2000 at Sørenga in what was once the southern part of the medieval city of Oslo. The park is located within an area which also included the Minneparken and Ladegården on the north side of Bispegata. Development in the area is prohibited due to ruins and cultural layers above and below ground. In the park are the ruins of St. Clement's Church, St. Mary's Church and the former royal estate (''Oslo Kongsgård''). In the west the shore line meets the park's land area approximately where Oslofjord met Oslo during the Middle Ages (about year 1300). The part of the park located at the lake is 43 acres in addition to the water on 22 acres. Kalvøyafestivalen
Kalvøyafestivalen was a Norwegian music festival arranged at Kalvøya in Bærum nearby Oslo, Norway. The festival was initiated by people connected to the folk club Hades at the art center on Høvikodden. The festival was started by Sten Randers Fredriksen in 1971. The festival was officially closed in 1998. The breakthrough for the festival was in 1973 when a long-haired and flared pants dressed Frank Zappa distorted his guitar on the natural gem outside Sandvika. Kalvøya, Bærum
Kalvøya ( en, Calf Island) is situated in the inner Oslofjord. The island is right outside of Sandvika in Bærum. The island has been connected to the mainland by a suspension bridge to Kadettangen since 1963. Kalvøya is one of the most popular bathing spots in Bærum. On the far east side of the island there is a nude beach. Kalvøya plays host to an annual soccer tournament for kids and a children's festival. The festival Øyafestivalen also has its roots there. Warlocks (band)
Warlocks are a Norwegian Hip-hop trio formed in 1992. The group has also been heavily involved in the graffiti and b-boy scene in Oslo. The trio consists of producer Hawk and the rappers Tech Rock (André Eriksen) and Karma (Kevin Eriksen), who are twins. Warlocks released their debut album, ''Lyrical Marksmen'', on a local independent label ( Records) in 1995, and the street buzz resulted in a contract with Norway's leading rap label Tee Productions.
