Whizzer is the name of several fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The first character debuted during the Golden Age in '' USA Comics'' #1 (Aug. 1941), and was reintroduced in ''Giant-Size Avengers'' #1 (Aug. 1974). A second villainous version debuts during the Silver Age in '' The Avengers'' #69 (Oct. 1969), and a second heroic version debuting in ''The Avengers'' #85 (Feb. 1971). The Whizzer appeared in the second season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe television series ''Jessica Jones'', portrayed by Jay Klaitz. Publication history The first character named the Whizzer first appeared during the Golden Age of comics, and later appeared briefly during the Silver Age. The Squadron Supreme is a superhero team appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, of which there are several notable alternate versions. The original team was created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema, derived from the previously created supervillain team Squadron Sinister. The core members of the Squadron Supreme are Hyperion, Nighthawk, Doctor Spectrum, Power Princess, and the Whizzer, pastiches of prominent members of rival publisher DC Comics' superhero team the Justice League. Many other characters were later added to the roster, not all of which were based on DC heroes. Publication history The Squadron Supreme has its roots in the Squadron Sinister, which first appeared in '' The Avengers'' #69 as a pastiche of the Justice League. The Flash (comics), Flash (Bartholomew Henry "Barry" Allen) is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character first appeared in ''Showcase (comics), Showcase'' #4 (October 1956), created by writer Robert Kanigher and penciler Carmine Infantino. Barry Allen is a reinvention of the original Flash, Flash (Jay Garrick), Jay Garrick. Because he is a speedster, his power consists mainly of superhuman speed. Various other effects are also attributed to his ability to control the slowness of molecular vibrations, including his ability to vibrate at speed to pass through objects. The Flash wears a distinct red and gold costume treated to resist friction and wind resistance, traditionally storing the costume compressed inside a ring.
