Stichopus
''Stichopus'' is a genus of sea cucumbers from the family Stichopodidae. Description and characteristics Sources disagree about how many species should be classified in the genus. Accessed on 8 June 2013. A number of animals have been moved to other genera, such as '' Apostichopus'' and '' Isostichopus''. These sea cucumbers are relatively large. One of the largest is ''S. vastus'', which can reach 40 to 50 centimeters in length. They have soft, quadrangular bodies covered on all four sides with thick tubercles. Some of them can be quite variable, especially in their colora ...

Parastichopus Regalis
''Parastichopus regalis'', also known as the royal sea cucumber, is a species of sea cucumber in the family Stichopodidae. Description ''Parastichopus regalis'' grows to a length of about . The body is soft and somewhat flattened, and a clearly incised lateral fold with large papillae separates the dorsal surface from the ventral surface. The dorsal surface is mottled brown, and the ventral surface is rather paler, with a darker longitudinal streak in the centre. The bony sclerites that strengthen the integument include tables, terminal plates and perforated plates; the sclerites in the tentacles that surround the mouth include elongated, branched, perforated and arched rods. Distribution and habitat ''Parastichopus regalis'' is found in the Mediterranean Sea, along the coasts of Africa in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, and in the tropical and subtropical western Atlantic Ocean, including the Gulf of Mexico. It is typically found on sand or other soft substrates, at depths down to a ...

Isostichopus Fuscus
''Isostichopus fuscus'', commonly known as the brown sea cucumber, is a species of sea cucumber in the family Stichopodidae native to the eastern Pacific. It was first described to science by German biologist Hubert Ludwig in 1875. It has a thick dermis without any spikes, making it an easily edible species and thus it is harvested for export to East Asia, where sea cucumber is popular in some cuisines. The fishery is typically conducted in an unsustainable manner, mostly in North and South America, which has caused the populations to decline. The brown sea cucumber is classified by the IUCN as Endangered. Image:Seegurke-Galapagos-Champion.jpg Distribution and habitat This species is found in the Pacific Coast of Mexico, including the Gulf of California, and down through Central America to South America as far as the northern coast of Peru, as well as in eastern Pacific islands, including the Galápagos. They are found in shallow waters, roughly 0 to 40 m deep in rocky reefs ...
