Reston, Manitoba
Reston is an unincorporated community recognized as a local urban district in southwestern Manitoba, located near the border of Saskatchewan on the west and North Dakota on the south. It is the largest community in the Rural Municipality of Pipestone, which also includes Sinclair, Cromer and Pipestone. History The name of the community was derived from the area where many of the original settlers came from, which was Reston Junction in Berwickshire, Scotland. The post office opened in 1890 on land location 9-7-27W. It was also a Canadian Pacific railway point and there was a school district which had the name ''Lanark'' and a district named Reston was later located on 9-7-27W. In October 2012, Reston sold lots in the community for $10 in order to attract families and businesses. Reston Scar
Reston Scar is a fell in the Lake District of Cumbria, England. It overlooks the north side of Staveley village, and is listed among Alfred Wainwright's " Outlying Fells of Lakeland" guide. The summit offers good views of the Coniston Fells, the Sca Fells and the Langdale Pikes. The main footpath up to the summit from Staveley passes to the south of Kemp Tarn, the largest of several ponds on the Scar. The summit is at and has a cairn. In his book ''The Outlying Fells of Lakeland ''The Outlying Fells of Lakeland'' is a 1974 book written by Alfred Wainwright dealing with hills in and around the Lake District of England. It differs from Wainwright's '' Pictorial Guides'' in that each of its 56 chapters describes a walk, ...'', Wainwright describes the ascent of Reston Scar from Staveley and calls the fell "a fine place for a siesta on a sunny day". Reston, Scottish Borders
Reston is a village located in the southeast of Scotland, in Berwickshire, Scottish Borders region. The village lies on the western bank of the Eye Water. Location It is located on the East Coast Main Line railway, which runs between London King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley. Reston was once the location of the railway station and junction between the Berwickshire Railway and the ECML. Both the Berwickshire Railway and Reston station closed in the 1960s. However the reopening of Reston station was approved and construction began in March 2021. A study published in 2013 proposed that and stations be reopened. Reston station re-opened on 23 May 2022 following completion of a £20m redevelopment. The A1 (Great North Road) runs to the east of the village. Population The current population is about 450. Reston Railway Station
Reston is a railway station in the small village of Reston that serves the wider rural parish of Coldingham and nearby small town of Eyemouth in the eastern Scottish Borders council area. The station is a minor stop on the East Coast Main Line and opened on 23 May 2022 after a £20 million investment. The station is owned by Network Rail and managed by ScotRail, although the latter company does not provide any services to or from the station. It is the second railway station to have been located in the village, having replaced an earlier station that closed in 1964. History Original station The main line of the North British Railway, between Edinburgh (North Bridge) and , was authorised either on 4 July 1844 or on 19 July 1844, and opened to the public on 22 June 1846.
