Reston, Manitoba
Reston is an unincorporated community recognized as a local urban district in southwestern Manitoba, located near the border of Saskatchewan on the west and North Dakota on the south. It is the largest community in the Rural Municipality of Pipestone, which also includes Sinclair, Cromer and Pipestone. History The name of the community was derived from the area where many of the original settlers came from, which was Reston Junction in Berwickshire, Scotland. The post office opened in 1890 on land location 9-7-27W. It was also a Canadian Pacific railway point and there was a school district which had the name ''Lanark'' and a district named Reston was later located on 9-7-27W. In October 2012, Reston sold lots in the community for $10 in order to attract families and businesses. ''Still Standing'' is a Canadian television series, which premiered on CBC in summer 2015. The show's tagline slogan is "towns that are against the ropes but still hanging in there", reflecting the show's premise to tell the "story of small towns in Canada and how they overcome struggles". It is based on the Danish television series '' Gintberg på kanten'' (''Gintberg on the edge''). A hybrid comedy and reality series, the program features actor and comedian Jonny Harris. In each episode, Harris travels to small Canadian communities which are financially struggling but "still standing" and spends time getting to know the residents and their lifestyles. 2021 Canadian Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. The Public Land Survey System (PLSS) is the surveying method developed and used in the United States to plat, or divide, real property for sale and settling. Also known as the Rectangular Survey System, it was created by the Land Ordinance of 1785 to survey land ceded to the United States by the Treaty of Paris in 1783, following the end of the American Revolution. Beginning with the Seven Ranges in present-day Ohio, the PLSS has been used as the primary survey method in the United States. Following the passage of the Northwest Ordinance in 1787, the Surveyor General of the Northwest Territory platted lands in the Northwest Territory. Berwickshire ( gd, Siorrachd Bhearaig) is a historic county, registration county and lieutenancy area in south-eastern Scotland, on the English border. Reston, Scottish Borders
Reston is a village located in the southeast of Scotland, in Berwickshire, Scottish Borders region. The village lies on the western bank of the Eye Water. Location It is located on the East Coast Main Line railway, which runs between London King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley. Reston was once the location of the railway station and junction between the Berwickshire Railway and the ECML. Both the Berwickshire Railway and Reston station closed in the 1960s. However the reopening of Reston station was approved and construction began in March 2021. A study published in 2013 proposed that and stations be reopened. Pipestone, Manitoba
Pipestone, Manitoba is a community in southwestern Manitoba, Canada. Located at the corner of highways 2 and 83, Pipestone is approximately 35 km from either Virden or Melita, approximately to the United States border and approximately to the Saskatchewan border. It is mainly an agricultural area with some oil drilling nearby. Pipestone is part of the Rural Municipality of Pipestone. The office for the municipality is located in Reston, approximately 10 kilometers west on Highway 2. It was the birthplace of John Hamilton Roberts, who commanded the landing forces in the Dieppe Raid in 1942. There is an amateur video of a large destructive tornado that passed through farm fields near Pipestone on June 23, 2007, and another on July 23, 2008. Cromer, Manitoba is a village located in the Rural Municipality of Pipestone, in south-western Manitoba, Canada in a region called Westman. In 1884 the Post Office was opened at LSD 26-8-28W and was known as ''Elm Valley''. The name was changed to Cromer when the Canadian Northern Railway came through in 1907. The community is situated alongside Pipestone Creek in the Pipestone Valley. The valley was formed almost 20,000 years ago during the melting of the last glaciation. The melting waters formed the Pipestone Spillway, which is the valley seen today.
