To avoid including false or unconfirmed claims of old age, names here are restricted to those people whose ages have been validated by an international body dealing in longevity research, such as the Gerontology Research Group, LongeviQuest, or ''Guinness World Records'', and others who have otherwise been reliably sourced. The longest documented and verified human lifespan is that of Jeanne Calment of France (1875–1997), a woman who lived to the age of 122 years and 164 days. As women live longer than men on average, women predominate in combined records. Violet Brown
Violet Brown (née Mosse; 10 March 1900 – 15 September 2017) was a Jamaican supercentenarian who was the oldest verified living person in the world for five months, following the death of Emma Morano on 15 April 2017 until her own death at the age of on 15 September 2017. She was, along with Nabi Tajima of Japan, one of the last two living people known to have been born in the 19th century. Early life Brown was born as Violet Mosse on 10 March 1900, and was one of four children born in Duanvale, Trelawny, British Jamaica, to John Mosse, who was a sugar boiler, and Elizabeth Riley. She was baptized at the age of 13 into the Baptist Church. Marie-Louise Fébronie Meilleur (; Chassé; August 29, 1880 – April 16, 1998) was a Canadian supercentenarian. She is the oldest validated Canadian ever and upon the death of longevity world record holder Jeanne Calment, became the world's oldest recognized living person. Early life Marie-Louise Fébronie Chassé was born on August 29, 1880, in Kamouraska, Quebec, to Pierre Charles Pitre Chassé and Marie-Catherine Fébronie Lévesque. She is the oldest verified Japanese person and the second-oldest verified person ever, after Jeanne Calment.
