Fake Kidnapping
A fake kidnapping is a kidnapping that has been staged by the victim. Notable incidents *Brazilian soccer player Somália - on January 7, 2011, Somália claimed he had been kidnapped at gunpoint before being robbed. CCTV footage later proved that he was simply late for training, and fabricated the story in order to circumvent the club's 40% wage drop in case of tardiness. January 2011 Rio De Janeiro Floods And Mudslides
A series of floods and mudslides took place in in several towns of the Mountainous Region (''Região Serrana''), in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Casualties occurred in the cities of Nova Friburgo, Teresópolis, Petrópolis, Bom Jardim, Sumidouro and São José do Vale do Rio Preto. The floods caused at least 916 deaths, including 424 in Nova Friburgo and 378 in Teresópolis. While local media claims that the combination of floods, mudslides and landslides in Rio de Janeiro became the worst weather-related natural disaster in Brazilian history, some contend that a similar weather-related tragedy that took place in the same state in 1967 was much deadlier, and that an estimated 1,700 people lost their lives on that occasion. Darlene "Dar" Heatherington (born 1963) is a Canadian former politician who was forced to resign her city council seat in Lethbridge, Alberta in 2004 after being convicted of public mischief. Reports On May 3, 2003, Heatherington first made Canadian and international headlines when she disappeared from a conference in Great Falls, Montana. Three days later, she was found in Las Vegas, Nevada, alleging that she had been abducted and raped. Police found her report to be inconsistent and lacking evidence, and she eventually recanted. She was charged with filing a false report to police, but pleaded not guilty. She continues to allege that the incident happened as reported, and that the police coerced her into recanting her original statement. Harpenden () is a town and civil parish in the City and District of St Albans in the county of Hertfordshire, England.
