Townsville is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The seat is one of four within the Townsville urban area in North Queensland, and covers the Eastern and Northern suburbs of the City of Townsville as well as Magnetic Island and Palm Island. Significant features in Townsville within the electorate are; The Strand, the Port of Townsville, Townsville Airport, RAAF Garbutt, Castle Hill, Museum of Tropical Queensland, Reef HQ, various administrative centres for Local, State and federal Governments. Scott Stewart (politician)
Scott James Stewart is an Australian politician. He has been the Labor member for Townsville in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since February 2015. Stewart was a high school principal and educator in the Townsville region. He was the principal of Pimlico State High School when he contested the seat of Townsville. During his time in education Scott established a boxing program, aimed at helping under-achieving indigenous students re-engage with schooling through sport. Scott and his wife Jackie moved to Townsville in 1999 to raise their three children. He is a volunteer with Townsville Rotary and sits on several committees including the North Queensland Stadium Activation Group, Community Aviation Consultation Group, CBD Taskforce, Regional Economic Development Sub-Committee, Palm Island Economic Development and Palm Island Liveability Project. Castle Hill, Townsville
Castle Hill is a heritage-listed isolated pink granite monolith in the suburb of Castle Hill, City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Its Indigenous name is Cootharinga, sometimes written as Cooderinga. It rises to a height of some above sea level and dominates the city skyline. It is one of the most distinctive natural features on the Queensland coast. Bohle is a northern suburb in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , Bohle had a population of 85 people. Rowes Bay is a suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , Rowes Bay had a population of 573 people. Geography Rowes Bay is located in a low-lying area adjacent to the Cleveland Bay beach. Its borders are determined by the Coral Sea, Townsville Airport and Mundy Creek, and only a small portion of the suburb's area is taken up by housing. South Townsville is a coastal suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , South Townsville had a population of 2,353 people. Railway Estate is a suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the Railway Estate had a population of 2,852 people. Geography Railway Estate is located on the south end of Ross Island, bounded by Ross Creek to the south-west and Ross River to the south-east. Currajong is a suburb in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , Currajong had a population of 2,548 people. Geography North Townsville Road runs along the northern boundary, and Garbutt–Upper Ross Road runs along the north-western boundary. History Currajong is situated in the traditional Wulgurukaba Aboriginal country. West End is an inner suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , West End had a population of 4,064 people.
