Rowes Bay is a suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the , Rowes Bay had a population of 573 people. Geography Rowes Bay is located in a low-lying area adjacent to the Cleveland Bay beach. Its borders are determined by the Coral Sea, Townsville Airport and Mundy Creek, and only a small portion of the suburb's area is taken up by housing. Neighbouring suburbs include Garbutt, West End and Belgian Gardens; however, Rowes Bay is relatively isolated from other suburbs due to its location surrounded by the Town Common. The Townsville Cemetery (also known as Belgian Gardens Cemetery) and a retirement village are located within the suburb. History Rowes Bay was named after Charles Seville Rowe, one of the first settlers at Cleveland Bay. Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park
The Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park is a protected conservation park located north-east of Townsville in the Far North region of Queensland, Australia. The regional park is located within the suburb of Pallarenda. Attractions There are several walking tracks on Cape Pallarenda. One of them passes two Second World War searchlight emplacements, and leads to the isolated and scenic Shelley Beach. Another path leads to a moving graveyard and memorial for 13 Vietnamese immigrants who died in August 1920 during a meningitis outbreak while interned at the former Cape Pallarenda Quarantine Station. Pallarenda is a northern coastal suburb of Townsville in the City of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. In the Pallarenda had a population of 791 people. Geography The residential development in the suburb is only three streets deep from the beach and is surrounded by undeveloped land. It is accessed by the Cape Pallarenda Road which runs north along the coast from Rowes Bay. In the north of Pallarenda is the Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park. History The suburb was officially named and bounded on 12 June 1992, having previously been known as Cape Marlow. Magnetic Island
Magnetic Island ( Wulguru: Yunbenun) is an island offshore from the city of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. This mountainous island in Cleveland Bay has effectively become a suburb of Townsville, with 2,335 permanent residents. The island is accessible from Townsville Breakwater to Nelly Bay Harbour by ferry. There is a large National Park and bird sanctuary and walking tracks can be taken between the populated bays and to a number of tourist destinations such as the World War II forts. The island is a holiday destination with many hotels and several resorts in operation to cater for all levels of service.
