Timeless Passages
''Timeless Passages'' is a double compilation album by the German rock band Eloy, released in 2003. It compiles songs from every Eloy studio album released between 1975 and 1998, except ''Performance'' (1983) and ''Destination'' (1992). It also includes a previously unreleased live version of the song "Poseidon's Creation", recorded in Munich in 1994. The songs were selected by Eloy leader Frank Bornemann, who was approached by EMI Electrola with the vision to create an "''organic unity through musical transitions between the songs''", a task Bornemann found "''extremely difficult to realize''". Sorting the songs in order to match EMI's vision was done by the band's longtime graphics designer and friend Michael Narten, and master engineer Hans-Jörg Maucksch. Narten also designed the album's booklet, combining elements from the covers of every studio album represented. Bornemann appreciated his work with "''unreserved applause''". Various past members of the band were invi ...

Eloy (band)
Eloy is a German rock band. Founded in 1969 by guitarist Frank Bornemann, the band is best known for their progressive rock music. History Founded in 1969 by guitarist Frank Bornemann, the band has endured several line-up changes, with Bornemann being the only consistent member of the group. In the 1980s, after a series of major splits in the group, Bornemann pursued a more commercial direction. However, in later years, former members of the band re-joined, and in 1998 released the album ''Ocean 2'', a return to the classic symphonic progressive rock genre for which the band was well known. Despite attracting a large following in Germany, the band never gained popularity in the United States. The name Eloy is based on the futurist race of humans from the book ''The Time Machine'' by H. G. Wells (there spelled "Eloi"). Bornemann described the origin of the name of the band thus: "Wells describes in his book the situation of mankind about 800,000 years later, and 'Eloy' is a h ...

The Tides Return Forever
''The Tides Return Forever'' is the fifteenth studio album by the German rock band Eloy, released in 1994. With this album, bassist Klaus-Peter Matziol returned to Eloy as a full-time member for the first time since they temporarily disbanded in late 1984. Matziol was working closely with Eloy during the 1992-1994 period too, as he was a guest musician in the albums '' Destination'' (1992), '' Chronicles I'' (1993) and '' Chronicles II'' (1994). Trying to achieve a more vintage sound, Eloy used analogue keyboards and recorded the entire album in 3M magnetic tape. As the album's release coincided with the band's 25th anniversary, Bornemann decided to set up a full band lineup and play some celebratory Eloy concerts, 10 years after the last time they toured in 1984. The 1994 touring lineup consisted of the three main Eloy members Frank Bornemann ( lead guitar, vocals), Michael Gerlach ( keyboards, backing vocals) and Klaus-Peter Matziol (bass), along with Susanne Schätzle ...
