Misteri Del Coperto Dei Figini
Misterei () is a village located south of Geneina, Sudan. History On 25 and 26 July 2020, a massacre occurred involving around 500 gunmen who attacked Misterei killing more than 60 people. Massacres have been reported in the village during the 2023 Sudan conflict with the village being used during the Battle of Geneina for massacres and for the battle overall. West Darfur
West Darfur State ( Wilāyat Ḡarb Dārfūr) is one of the states of Sudan, and one of five comprising the Darfur region. Prior to the creation of two new states in January 2012, it had an area of 79,460 km² and an estimated population of approximately 1,007,000 (2006). It borders North and Central Darfur to the east. The Chadian prefectures of Biltine and Ouaddaï lie to the west, while to the north is the prefecture of Bourkou-Ennedi-Tibesti. Al-Junaynah is the capital of the state. Geneina
Geneina (sometimes Al-Junaynah) ( ar, الجنينة, lit. ''the little garden'') is a city in West Darfur, part of dar Masalit region, that joined British Sudan at the end of 1919 through the Gilani agreement signed between the Masalit Sultanate and the Kingdom of Britain, according to which it became a territory. It is now the capital of the Sudanese state of West Darfur. As of 2008, it had a population of 252,744. 2023 Sudan Conflict
An armed conflict between rival factions of the military government of Sudan began on 15 April 2023, when clashes broke out in cities, with the fighting concentrated around the capital city of Khartoum and the Darfur region. As of 27 May, at least 1,800 people had been killed and more than 5,100 others had been injured. The conflict began with attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on government sites. Airstrikes, artillery, and gunfire were reported across Sudan including in Khartoum. The Battle of Geneina, also known as the Geneina massacre, was a battle for control of Geneina, the capital of West Darfur in Sudan, between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). By 25 April 2023, fighting intensified and devolved along tribal lines, with Masalit and non-Arab peoples supporting the SAF and the aligned Joint Darfur Forceconsisting of former rebel groups including the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army and the Justice and Equality Movementagainst the RSF and allied Arab militias. Thousands of civilians and soldiers were killed after the fighting broke out, and humanitarian organizations have equated indiscriminate civilian killings throughout the battle to the Rwandan genocide. The Masalit ( Masalit: ''masala/masara''; ar, ماساليت) are an ethnic group inhabiting western Sudan and eastern Chad. They speak the Masalit language Overview The Masalit primarily live in Geneina, the capital of west Darfur, a few thousand of them live in Al Qadarif (East Sudan, in parts of the southern Janub Darfur about 20,000 state. According to ''Ethnologue'', there were 440,000 total Masalit speakers as of 2011. Of these, 350,000 inhabited Sudan. Masalit traditions trace their original homeland to Tunisia. Passing through Chad, they eventually settled in the Sudan vicinity. The Masalit are also known as the Kana Masaraka/Masaraka, Mesalit, and Massalit.
