Zwickau Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station of Zwickau in the German state of Saxony. History On 18 September 1845 Zwickau was connected by a branch line to the Leipzig–Reichenbach railway line. This was followed on 11 May 1858 by the line to Schwarzenberg, on 15 November 1858 by the line to Chemnitz and on 29 November 1875 by the line to Falkenstein.Klaus Reichenbach: ''Straßenbahn in Zwickau'', Verlag Kenning, Nordhorn 1997, p. 6. The first station building was a wooden structure built in 1845. This soon no longer met increasing requirements and had to be replaced by a new building, which was completed in 1858. Zwickau (; is, with around 87,500 inhabitants (2020), the fourth-largest city of Saxony after Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz and it is the seat of the Zwickau District. Trams In Zwickau
The Zwickau tramway network (german: Straßenbahnnetz Zwickau) is a network of tramways forming part of the public transport system in Zwickau, a city in the federal state of Saxony, Germany. Opened in 1894, the network has been operated since 1991 by (SVZ), and is integrated in the Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS). Between Stadhalle and Zwickau Zentrum stations, Die Länderbahn operates mainline diesel services alongside trams, sharing two intermediate stations. This concept has been dubbed the "Zwickau Model". RegioSprinter
The RegioSprinter is a German diesel railcar built by Siemens-Duewag for rapid regional railway services. Originally the RegioSprinter was designated as a Regional Combustion-engined Railbus (''Regional-Verbrennungstriebwagen'' or ''RVT'') by Duewag. Developed as prototypes for fast regional railway services on the plains, the RegioSprinter still has the fastest acceleration of any multiple unit or railbus in Germany. Due to several technical and conceptual defects, however, only very few were built. Based on their experience with the Regiosprinter Siemens developed its successor, the Desiro, which was initially marketed as the ''Regiosprinter 2''. Leipzig–Hof Railway
The Leipzig–Hof railway is a two-track main line in the German states of Saxony, Thuringia and Bavaria, originally built and operated by the Saxon-Bavarian Railway Company. It runs from Leipzig through Altenburg, the Werdau wye junction, Reichenbach and Plauen to Hof.
