Zurich Art Prize
Zurich Art Prize is a Swiss art prize that has been awarded annually by the Museum Haus Konstruktiv together with the Zurich Insurance Group, since 2007. The award includes a cash prize (roughly $100,000 USD), and a solo exhibition in a museum. Every year, Museum ''Haus Konstruktiv'' invites six curators, critics and art experts to nominate an artist for the award and from these selected nominees a jury selects the winner. Haus Konstruktiv
Haus Konstruktiv (English: ), or Museum Haus Konstruktiv, is an arts foundation founded by private individuals in 1986 in Zürich, Switzerland. From 1987 to spring 2001, it was located at Seefeldstrasse 317 in the outer Seefeld area of Zurich and was known as the "House for Constructive and Concrete Art". The new premises are close to the centre of Zurich at Selnaustrasse 25, in a former power station building. The foundation promotes "constructive, concrete, and conceptual art and design". Nairy Baghramian
Nairy Baghramian (born 1971) is an Iranian-born German visual artist. Since 1984, she has lived and worked in Berlin. When the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum selected Baghramian as a finalist for the 2020 Hugo Boss Prize, they described Baghramian’s statues as: "... xploringthe workings of the body, gender, and public and private space." Biography Nairy Baghramian was born 1971, in Isfahan, Iran. She relocated to Germany in 1985, as a teenager. She attended Berlin University of the Arts (Universität der Künste Berlin). Work Baghramian captures fleeting human poses in traditional materials such as marble and steel. Inspired by dance classes she took as a child, Baghramian recalls her teacher speaking of the need to break down human movement into discrete elements. Hamilton is a port city in the Canadian province of Ontario. Hamilton has a population of 569,353, and its census metropolitan area, which includes Burlington and Grimsby, has a population of 785,184. Kapwani Kiwanga
Kapwani Kiwanga (born 1978) is a Canadian artist working in Paris, France. In 2018, she was named the inaugural winner of the Frieze Artist Award. Early life and education Kiwanga was born in 1978 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and grew up there and in the nearby town of Brantford, where she took classes at the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant. She has said that she gained her perspective on colonialism and Canada's Indigenous people from her time in Brantford, which is situated on the Haldimand Tract in the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. Kiwanga later studied anthropology at McGill University in Montreal, and art at the "La Seine" program at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Sonia Kacem
Sonia Kacem (born 1985) is a Swiss visual artist, of Swiss and Tunisian descent. She is known for her sculptures and installation art. She has lived in both Amsterdam, and Geneva. Biography Sonia Kacem was born in 1985 in Geneva, Switzerland. Her mother is Swiss and her father is Tunisian. She studied at Geneva University of Art and Design, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in 2009 and then a master's degree in 2011. Kacem was the winner of the Manor Cultural Prize 2014; Kiefer Hablitzel Göhner Art Prize in 2015; and the Zurich Art Prize 2021, from the museum Haus Konstruktiv and the Zurich Insurance Group Ltd. Amalia Pica
Amalia Pica (born 1978 in Neuquén, Argentina) is a London-based Argentinian artist who explores metaphor, communication, and civic participation through sculptures, installations, photographs, projections, live performances, and drawings. Early life and education Amalia Pica was born in Neuquén, Argentina, in 1978. She earned a BA from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón in Buenos Aires in 2003. From 2004 to 2005, she held an artist residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kusten. Leonor Antunes
Leonor Antunes (born 1972, Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese contemporary artist who creates sculptural installations. She lives and works in Berlin. Early life and education Leonor Antunes was born in Lisbon in 1972. After high school, she attended the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, studying staging for a year. She then attended the University of Lisbon for a "broader form of visual art" and earned a degree in 1998 from the Faculty of Fine Art. Robin Rhode
Robin Rhode (born 1976) is a South African artist based in Berlin. He has made wall drawings, photographs and sculptures. Education Rhode was born in Cape Town, South Africa. He studied fine art at Technikon Witwatersrand in Johannesburg (now the University of Johannesburg), followed by postgraduate work in 2000 at the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance. Work Rhode is represented by Lehmann Maupin. In November 2009 he provided stop-frame video animations for a performance by Leif Ove Andsnes of Mussorgsky's ''Pictures at an Exhibition'' at the Lincoln Center in New York. Marguerite Humeau (born 1986) is a French visual artist. She is living in London. Early life and education She studied at the Royal College of Art. Her work focuses on communication between worlds. She has called herself an "Indiana Jones in Google Times". Latifa Echakhch ( ar, لطيفة الشخش; born 1974 in El-Khnansa, Morocco) is a Moroccan- French visual artist working in Switzerland who creates installations.
