Zorgvlied (cemetery)
Zorgvlied is a cemetery on the Amsteldijk in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on the left bank of the river Amstel. The cemetery was opened in 1870 by the city of Amstelveen which still owns and operates it, though since 1896 (when city lines were redrawn) it is located within the boundaries of the city of Amsterdam. One of the country's best-known cemeteries, it is notable for the large number of celebrities, especially from the literary and theater worlds, buried there. History The cemetery takes its name from the villa on whose grounds it is built. The design, by Jan David Zocher, is in the English garden style. Zorgvlied was expanded in 1892 by Zocher's son, Louis Paul Zocher, and again in 1900, 1919, and 1926, when it became a burial place for the upper classes who had often been buried in Westerveld in Driehuis. Zorgvlied Amsterdam
Zorgvlied is a village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 23 km west of Assen. The municipality received its name by the former villa "Zorgvlied". History From 1819 to 1823, the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid purchased large areas of heather around Groot and Klein Wateren in the market of Diever and Wateren. The Society of Humanitarianism, Institute of Agriculture was founded in 1823 against the Friesland, Frisian border. This school was one of the first in the Netherlands. Until 1859 she - the school was also known as the "teachers school" - functioned as a training institute for the Society of Humanitarianism. The building is still clearly recognizable in the village (to the right of the Roman Catholic Church) and accommodates today home to four elderly people. Milo Anstadt
Samuel Marek "Milo" Anstadt (10 July 1920 – 16 July 2011) was a Dutch Jewish writer and journalist. Biography Andstadt was born and lived in Lwów (Poland, nowadays Lviv in Ukraine) until 1930. At the age of 10, Milo, his parents and sister Sera emigrated to the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, he completed primary school but did not go to secondary school. When Anstadt was fourteen years old, he worked for the Transformatorfabriek Besra in Amsterdam, he often went to ANSKI a cultural club for mostly Jewish eastern European immigrants where you could assist at political and other lectures and all kind of performances, where he also received mentoring and was helped to become more spiritually developed. Hans Andreus
Hans Andreus (21 February 1926, Amsterdam – 9 June 1977, Putten) was the pseudonym of the Dutch poet and writer Johan Wilhelm van der Zant. Van der Zant was born in Amsterdam. His parents divorced soon after his birth, his mother remarried, and the family lived in Scheveningen between 1930 and 1937 before moving back to Amsterdam. He started to write poems in 1939, and dropped out of school in 1940. In 1945, he studied for a while at the Amsterdamse Toneelschool, but also dropped out in 1947. Afterwards he worked as a corrector with De Volkskrant. Andreus' debut work, the poetry book 'Muziek voor Kijkdieren', came out in 1951. His work is seen as part of the Dutch/Belgian literary movement known as 'De Vijftigers', a group of young poets started in the late 40s and connected to the COBRA movement, which also included Lucebert and Hugo Claus. August Allebé
August Allebé (19 April 1838 – 10 January 1927) was an artist and teacher from the Northern Netherlands. His early paintings were in a romanticism, romantic style, but in his later work he was an exponent of realism (arts), realism and impressionism. He was a major initiator and promoter of Amsterdam Impressionism, the artist's association St. Lucas, and the movement of the Amsterdamse Joffers. Amsterdam Impressionism – sometimes referred to by art historians as the School of Allebé – was the counterflow to the very strong Hague School in the movement of Dutch Impressionism. As a professor at the Royal Academy of Amsterdam (Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten) he fostered a cosmopolitan attitude toward art and the promotion and motivation of his students, and provided a significant stimulus to developments in modern art. Johannes "Jan" van Aartsen (15 September 1909 – 3 February 1992) was a Dutch politician of the defunct Anti-Revolutionary Party (ARP) now merged into the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) party and jurist. Van Aartsen applied at the Free University Amsterdam in June 1931 majoring in law and obtaining an Bachelor of Laws degree before graduating with a Master of Laws degree in July 1936.
