Zone 83, Qatar
Zone 83 is a zone of the municipality of Al Rayyan in the state of Qatar. The main district recorded in the 2015 population census was Al Karaana. Other districts which fall within its administrative boundaries are Al Rekayya, Baida Al Gaa, Jariyan Al Batnah, Jaww Basheer, and Umm Al Suwab. Demographics As of the 2010 census, the zone comprised 177 housing units and 95 establishments. There were 1,567 people living in the zone, of which 87% were male and 13% were female. Out of the 1,567 inhabitants, 87% were 20 years of age or older and 13% were under the age of 20. Municipalities Of Qatar
Since 2015, Qatar has been divided into eight municipalities. In 2004, a new municipality, Al Daayen, was created under Resolution No. 13, formed from parts of Umm Salal and Al Khawr; at the same time, Al Ghuwariyah was merged with Al Khawr; Al Jumaliyah was merged with Ar Rayyan; Jarayan al Batnah was split between Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah; and Mesaieed was merged with Al Wakrah. Al Rayyan
Al Rayyan (; also spelled as ''Ar Rayyan'') is the third-largest municipality in the state of Qatar. Its primary settlement is the city of the same name, which occupies the entire eastern section and largely surrounds Metropolitan Doha and functions as a suburb. The vast expanse of mostly undeveloped lands in the south-west also falls under the municipality's administration. Zones Of Qatar
In the administrative divisions of Qatar, zones are the second-highest level of government after municipalities of Qatar, municipalities. As of the 2015 census, there were 98 zones. However, several of these zones are not currently in use. Over the years, numerous changes in zones have taken place. For instance, in the 2010 census, Zone 69 was transferred to Al Daayen Municipality, Zones 50 and 58 were added to Ad-Dawhah (municipality), Ad-Dawhah Municipality, and part of Zone 74 was merged with Zone 70 of Al Daayen Municipality. Qatar
Qatar (, ; ar, قطر, Qaṭar ; local vernacular pronunciation: ), officially the State of Qatar,) is a country in Western Asia. Al Karaana
Al Karaana ( ar, الكرعانة, Al Kir‘ānah) is a village in Qatar, located in the municipality of Al Rayyan. It used to be part of the Jariyan Al Batnah municipality before the municipality was incorporated into Al Rayyan. It is situated around to the south-west of the capital Doha. It is one of the three major landfill sites in the country, being used mainly for sewage wastes. Etymology Originating from the Arabic term "karaa", which can be translated as "rainwater" or "fresh water", Al Karaana was named after a local well which yielded water of exceptional quality. History In 1917, Al Karaana was described as a stopover on the route from Hofuf to Doha which contained a 150-feet deep masonry well yielding good water. Al Rekayya
Al Rekayya ( ar, الركية, Ar Rukayyah; also spelled Irkhaya) is an agricultural district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Al Rayyan. It is close to the border with Al Wakrah Municipality. Hassad Food owns a 162-hectare farm in Al Rekayya. As of 2012, the Qatari Arab Dairy Company (Ghadeer) owned and operated the largest farm in Qatar out of Al Rekayya. The farm spanned 1,200 hectares, had an inventory of roughly 2,400 cattle and primarily grew forage crops such as alfalfa and clover. Etymology The district's name translates to "well". As an agricultural area located in a rawda (depression), the local well historically played an important role in its inhabitant's lives.
