The Zhejiang University of Technology () is a public research university in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. It is considered one of the top industrial universities in mainland China and the second largest university in Zhejiang Province after the more comprehensive Zhejiang University. Xu Guangxian
Xu Guangxian (; November 7, 1920 – April 28, 2015), also known as Kwang-hsien Hsu, was a Chinese chemist. He was an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science who is respected for his contributions in both theoretical and experimental chemistry. He is a former president of the Chinese Chemical Society, and is known as "The Father of Chinese Rare Earths Chemistry". Early life and education Xu was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang on November 7, 1920. He entered Hangzhou Advanced Industrial Vocational School in Zhejiang (now part of Zhejiang University of Technology). Due to the Anti-Japanese War, the students and faculty were relocated to an advanced industrial school in Ningbo, where Xu graduated in 1939. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU; ) is a public research university in Shanghai, China. The university is funded by the Ministry of Education of China. The university was established on April 8, 1896 as Nanyang Public School (南洋公學) by an imperial edict. The Yangtze Delta or Yangtze River Delta (YRD, or simply ) is a triangle-shaped megalopolis generally comprising the Wu Chinese-speaking areas of Shanghai, southern Jiangsu and northern Zhejiang.
