Zhané Songs
Zhané ( ) was an American R&B duo, best known for their 1993 hit " Hey Mr. D.J.", which reached No. 6 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Other popular hits include " Groove Thang" (U.S. No. 17) and minor hit "Sending My Love", both released in 1994. The group was part of Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit collective. Biography Beginnings Renée Neufville and Jean Norris initially met in the early 1990s, while both were attending Philadelphia's Temple University; they would sing together at talent shows and other events. In her youth, Norris' father, Dennis, was a pastor at the Second Baptist Church in Moorestown, New Jersey, and Norris herself was a member of the choir. Although they were not yet a group, Neufville and Norris collaborated on each other's songs. "Ring My Bell" is the second single released from DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's fourth studio album, '' Homebase''. The song sampled and shared the same name as Anita Ward's 1979 hit, " Ring My Bell", though the original lyrics were replaced by those written by the Fresh Prince (Will Smith). Nevertheless, The song's original writer, Fredrick Knight was sole writer who received writing credits. The song appears on Smith's series, '' The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air'' in the closing credits from "The Mother of All Battles" off the season 2 episode. Roy Hargrove
Roy Anthony Hargrove (October 16, 1969 – November 2, 2018) was an American jazz musician and composer whose principal instruments were the trumpet and flugelhorn. He achieved worldwide acclaim after winning two Grammy Awards for differing styles of jazz in 1998 and 2002. Hargrove primarily played in the hard bop style for the majority of his albums, but also had a penchant for genre-crossing exploration and collaboration with a variety of hip hop, soul, R&B and alternative rock artists. 60th Grammy Awards
The 60th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held on January 28, 2018. The CBS network broadcast the show live from Madison Square Garden in New York City. The show was moved to January to avoid coinciding with the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, as was the case in 2010 and 2014. James Corden returned as host. The Baylor Project
The Baylor Project is an American jazz duo from New York City. Its members are husband and wife Marcus and Jean Baylor. Marcus Baylor is from St. Louis, Missouri and was previously the drummer for The Yellowjackets. Jean Baylor was previously a member of R&B group Zhané. They released their debut album, ''The Journey'', on Be A Light Records in 2017. In 2021, they released a second album, ''Generations'.'' Later that year, they joined the roster at Motown Music Group. They have been nominated for four Grammy Awards including twice for Best Jazz Vocal Album for ''The Journey and Generations'' twice for Best Traditional R&B Performance for the song "Laugh and Move On" and "Sit On Down. Yellowjackets is an American jazz fusion band founded in 1977 in Los Angeles, California. History In 1977, guitarist Robben Ford, for his first solo album, recruited keyboardist Russell Ferrante, electric bassist Jimmy Haslip and drummer Ricky Lawson. They decided to continue as a group and were signed to Warner Bros. Records by producer Tommy LiPuma, who chose the name "Yellowjackets" from a list of potential group names the band had compiled. In 1984, the band's second album, ''Mirage a Trois'', was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Fusion Performance.
