Zaxidfest
Zaxidfest ( uk, Західфест} ; previously known as Zaxid) is an annual international music and art festival held in the middle of August near Lviv, Ukraine. ZAKHID was founded in 2009 as a festival of Ukrainian rock and ethno music. Later it has lost an attachment to some concrete music genre and was expanded by different foreign artists (including Anti-Flag, Caliban, Clawfinger, Ektomorf, Everlast, Ill Niño, Kreator, Oomph!, Zdob şi Zdub and others). Every year organizers conduct online-survey where anybody can propose and vote for artist. In this way the list of participants is formed. Also some artists are invited based on organizers' initiative and their names are hidden until the tickets sales start. The festivals name "Zakhid" means in Ukrainian equivocally ''West'' (or ''Western'', meaning western part of Ukraine) and ''Event''. Dakh Daughters
Dakh Daughters is a Ukrainian music and theatre project started in 2012 in Kyiv. The band consists of seven women, who play on various instruments and sing in different languages (Ukrainian, English, French, German, Russian) and dialects of Ukrainian.''Борис Барабанов'Украина на все голоса. Dakh Daughters спели в «Гоголь-центре»Коммерсантъ No. 50 от 26.03.2014. They often use texts by famous authors in their lyrics (e.g. Taras Shevchenko, William Shakespeare, Joseph Brodsky, Charles Bukowski, Shaggy). Clawfinger
Clawfinger is a Swedish rap metal band from Stockholm. The group is known for aggressive but melodic music and tackling political and anti-racist themes in their songs. History Origins: 1989–1991 The band's origin dates back to mid-1989, when Zak Tell and Jocke Skog met while working together at Rosenlund Hospital in Stockholm. In 1990, they were joined by the Norwegian guitarists Bård Torstensen and Erlend Ottem who were also working at the hospital. The four soon realized their similar interests in music. Rodatychi (Ukrainian: Родатичі, formerly Городятичі, ''Horodiatyczi'') is a village located in Lviv Raion, Lviv Oblast of Ukraine, and lies on the Tarnogród Plateau. It belongs to Horodok urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. In the Second Polish Republic, the town was the seat of the rural commune of Rodatychi. History The first mention of the village is in 1445. The village belonged to the estate of the Gródek eldership. The owners were the Austrian government, Jan Machan, and Antonina Mirska, who in 1890 transferred the property to the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence that he founded in Lviv. This partnered ownership was maintained until September 1939. The village had a railroad from the second half of the 19th century. In 1929, the village was inhabited by 2561 inhabitants. Dark Tranquillity is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. They are considered one of the pioneering acts of the Gothenburg metal scene, which also includes bands such as In Flames and At the Gates. Crystal Castles (band)
Crystal Castles was a Canadian electronic music group formed in 2006 in Toronto, Ontario, formed by songwriter-producer Ethan Kath and singer-songwriter Alice Glass, who later left and was replaced by Edith Frances. Crystal Castles were known for their chaotic live shows and lo-fi melancholic homemade productions. They released many limited vinyl singles between 2006 and 2007 before releasing four studio albums between 2008 and 2016. Glass announced her departure from the band in October 2014, citing personal and professional reasons. Chelsea Grin
Chelsea Grin is an American deathcore band from Salt Lake City, Utah. Formed in 2007, the group have released two EPs and five full-length albums. Since 2018, no original members remain in the band. Chelsea Grin was originally founded under the name ''Ahaziah''. The lineup for Ahaziah included vocalist Alex Koehler, guitarist Chris Kilbourn, bassist Austin Marticorena and lead guitarist Michael Stafford. Marticorena introduced Andrew Carlston to Chelsea Grin and assisted in rewriting their songs as well as the creation of new material as they changed the name to Chelsea Grin soon after. Breaking Benjamin
Breaking Benjamin is an American Rock music, rock band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, formed in 1999 by lead singer and guitarist Benjamin Burnley and drummer Jeremy Hummel. The first lineup of the band also included guitarist Aaron Fink and bassist Mark Klepaski. Braty Hadiukiny
Braty Hadiukiny ( uk, Брати Гадюкіни), or simply Hady ( uk, Гади) is a Ukrainian rock band from Lviv, one of the most successful Ukrainian bands of Soviet times. The band's musical style combines different genres such as rock'n'roll, blues, punk, reggae, funk and folk. Ironic song lyrics contain a lot of local vernacularisms, slang and surzhyk. The name translates as "Hadyukin Brothers", where the fictional last name Hadyukin is derived from the word ''hadyuka'', or "viper". The abbreviation literally means "snakes" (In Ukrainian the two words are cognates.) The band was active mainly between 1988 and 1996. In January 2006 they held a big solo concert in Kyiv which was a big event in Ukrainian media space and was visited by a lot of famous people (including Yulia Tymoshenko the prime minister at the time). BoomBox (Ukrainian Band)
BoomBox (also: Бумбокс, Bumboks) is a Ukrainian rock and pop band formed in 2004 by singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk and guitarist . Their songs are predominantly in Ukrainian, with their albums and singles including some songs in Russian and English. They recorded their first album ''Меломанія'' (''Melomania'') in just 19 hours and released it in April 2005. The band has performed in cities throughout Ukraine, including Lviv, Odesa, Kovel, Uzhhorod and, as recently as the beginning of 2022, in Kyiv. They have performed in other European countries, the United States, and Canada. In 2015 they conducted a ten-year-anniversary tour in North America. BoomBox was scheduled to perform in London at a show in support of the Belarus Free Theatre in 2015.
